Re: A 'budget' race car is born (slow delivery)

Hahahaha...not sure..but it helped me see upcoming road signs from 1500m away.... :D I found the main lead was snapping just behind the lug - given good-quality gear was being used, the only culprit left was fatigue from vibration. After it left me 150km from home and running just on low-beam and fa...

Re: A 'budget' race car is born (slow delivery)

I had an RS2000 with 600 watts of light and a bigger alternator fitted (not a rally car, I just used to do a lot of country miles). It was constantly breaking the main lead, we guessed through vibration. A mount was redone with some rubber mounting put in place and it never happened again. Perhaps t...

Re: Beninca Alfetta GTV Turbo

It certainly is...the 1UZFE 4.0 as used in the earlier Lexus models. A 200hp n/a Nord or TS costs more to build than 1kE here, it seems, going by quotes I've had.

Re: Beninca Alfetta GTV Turbo

Depending on how much grunt you want, with the Lexus..and the LS, there may not be a great need for aftermarket parts. You'd certainly not be spending 8k+ to get 200hp like the Alfa 4's!

Re: Beninca Alfetta GTV Turbo

A Lexus in a GTV has been done. See greengtv8 on the Alfa Vic forums. The 4.0 has massive 6-bolt mains and enormously strong bottom end - VERY good for forced induction. Outputs from 600-1000hp have been achieved with nothing more than piston swaps, internally. It's also quite a light engine. Planet...

Re: Beninca Alfetta GTV Turbo

He came second this year. Something to be said for all-alloy 700hp "Chevs" of 6-litre capacity.

Re: Adaptronic...? Or Dizzy...?

There's a bunch of Suzuki GTi guys making solid power using the Adaptronic setup. Some of them are fairly clued in with this ECU and aftermarket tuning. You can find them on http://www.redlinegti.com . Ignore the childish rubbish that can go on there and you may find some gems of info that you can u...

Re: MD's Racer-The Flying Brick

Bad luck about more breakages - although good news on the BMW guibo being better. Doesn't make me feel all that super about things I have to "look forward" to. Even though you used only 3 gears, what did you feel your times would have been like?

Re: Hi from Brisbane

Just a brief update...the car has been in storage for about 6 months and will be until the end of the year, when our new residence should be completed! I had the car"ready" for what I thought would be its' first outing - even dowloaded the entry forms. Decided to do an output test on the a...
