Re: Hello from relocation to UK with my two South African GT

Well summer is finally here which gets the motivation going to do some maintenance work on the carbi GTV 6 . It's been a pretty amazing car for last twenty years and still has not let me down ie stuck on side of road . What's more amazing I have only had the carbs tuned once . Trick has been not to ...

Re: Project 2 : front mount SA GTV 3.0 - Sei diff

The weather has finally got a bit warmer ( a mighty 8 degrees) and the rain has stopped for a week so it was good opportunity to pull engine out and attach gearbox . It's actually much easier to do this than put box in from underneath . Also I could see perfectly the new clutch and fork position thr...

Wow  great spy pics . Surprised it's not disguised even though you can place orders soon .
Hope they test in the high altitude African heat . Lots of cars fail there - mostly bmw diesel turbos , surprisingly .

Re: Our 1600 Junior restoration

Fitting the door trim took ages . Their is only one sequence which I learnt after stripping another junior . It's combination of starting with roof beading and rear window steel trim and rubbers . I bought an entire new rubber set from Classic Alfa and I see they have now a thinner profile for the d...

Re: Our 1600 Junior restoration

I have done a bit of work on the Junior with my Dad in my brief visits to SA to catch up on some warmth . Actually it was cooking at 40 degrees but good thing the swimming pool was only a few feet away :D . However I'm typing this back in UK at 0 degrees procrastinating over putting the gearbox back...

Re: Need s some advise on converting my Alfetta gtv 4 to a V

In late 1984 in South Africa there were quite a few GTV 2.0 that were actually made from excess GTV 6 shells . So battery was in boot and tank behind rear seats , the hubs were five bolt pattern however the torsion bars and callipers were same as 2.0 . Estimate about fifty of these cars were made . ...

Re: Alfa Romeo 75 3,0 V6 Gr. A Conversion from 12V to 24V

Hi Daryl , the 164 water pump cannot fit on the later 24v motors . However their is a solution like Wolfgang showed by modifying the thermostat housing to fit . I found it was a lot easier to laser cut and entirely new flange with extra wall thickness as the 12v housing needs to be positioned about ...

Re: Project 2 : front mount SA GTV 3.0 - Sei diff

Been waiting for my clutch alignment tool to arrive as my home made socket type had little to much play . So finally it did arrive this brilliant nylon alignment tool . It's absolutely perfect . Had to import it from states but it was only few dollars . If I was in SA I would have just cut up one of...

Re: Hello from NL - introducing my 75TB

I had a gtv6 twin plate clutch in my 3.7 24v and had no problems ..... However I had the pressure plate re tensioned . Helix clutches in uk offer a sprung paddle clutch off a 75 3.0 which I'd pretty good . My mate who races a 75 3.2,24v is sending a complete twin plate uni to Helix with torque specs...

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine

On this subject , I had a 2.5 24v to start off with journal size cut down to suit bmw rods and 98mm Porsche pistons . There was also and 8mm spacer between the heads and block . Worked very well . Dawie built this engine in the days when we were struggling to get forged pistons at 100 mm . Must be w...

Re: Project 2 : front mount SA GTV 3.0 - Sei diff

Small progress but making sure it's perfect with regards to the clutch fork pivoting . So had to measure exactly where thrust bearing would be sitting then set up fork just slightly off 90 degrees . Also needed to check clutch slave pin can extend 22mm in its starting position and does not run out o...

Re: Project 2 : front mount SA GTV 3.0 - Sei diff

My Dedion has -1 camber as standard but I have done quite a bit of welding on it for calliper clearance . It all depends on tyres and rim side you're using as I run 15" semi slick which would be different set up to someone running 17" full slick .
