Re: Supercharged 12V/Stratos copy/engine tech type stuff

It's sorted as it is now, it just doesn't make as much power as I'd hoped. Putting a 24V in it wouldn't do much really, few more horses perhaps, depending on engien spec, bit less torque, little bit less weight overall (not as much as you might think actually - those 4 cam heads are heavy!). I just ...

Re: Supercharged 12V/Stratos copy/engine tech type stuff

Me too - I take no pleasure in knowing other people are suffering too!

I've decided to sell the car now. It never gets used and I don't enjoy driving it any more so time to give it a new home.

I have no illusions about how hard finding the right buyer is going to be.....

Re: Supercharged 12V/Stratos copy/engine tech type stuff

From my perspective, once I had sent them my money, the whole experience went from bad to worse. Communication was flaky, they had 4 weeks to get a blower ready to ship to me while I was in the US on holiday (idea was to save me carriage and hopefully some of the duty, as I intended using my persona...

Re: Supercharged 12V/Stratos copy/engine tech type stuff

Sadly, no belt slip for sure. Boost is almost totally flat from end to end. A very slight rise at the top as you'd expect really - blower efficiency increasing a wee bit, but it is what it is. Already running at damn near 2 x crank, so rev range is where it should be for an M90 really. The MP62 is a...

Re: Supercharged 12V/Stratos copy/engine tech type stuff

Well, apropos of nothing much....it's more than a year since my last post on this, and in my usual half-arsed manner I've been fiddling and faffing with it. Having talked myself into thinking cam overlap was the cause of lack of boost, I put some stock cams back in it over winter. A 6 speed gearbox ...

Re: Building the supercharger to the engine (75 3.0V6)

Mats makes a good point about using PU for the engine mounts. I made some for my car (not a GTV by the way) using PU suspension bushes and found they allowed a really nasty resonance/harshness to build up around 2-3500 rpm. I reverted to the rubber mounts after that. Shame, as the PU ones held the m...

Re: motronic V6 timing

Talking older 12V motors, the load is given by the AFM. TPS is a switch rather than a pot, so only indicates idle, WOT, or somewhere in between. Crank trigger gives crank angle and speed of course, so given load from AFM, temperature from water temp sender, you can then pick your timing from the map...

Re: Saab injectors in a 3.0 12v america engine

I've used some 4-hole injectors in my supercharged 164 motor, but using the stock rail etc. No problems I've noticed at least....but now you have me wondering.

I'll ask my mate who works with these things all day long....see what he says.

Re: Ignition Advance

Wot Duk said. You don't need or want any more advance than is required to give best power...and a dyno is by far the best way to determine that.

I've got some numbers for my aspirated 3.0 12V V6 that was stock apart from some C&B 'mild' cams and S pistons. Any help?

Re: Made a couple new supercharging videos and a Callaway vid

On the subject of hijacking... :) More on the noise front really - my car has the 164 TB before the M90, and a bypass round it. In 'normal' driving you can barely hear the whine at all. On full throttle, it's still pretty quiet (from inside the car at least - no idea how loud it is from the outside ...

Re: Engine destroying itself - detectives wanted !

I've read somewhere about a modification for the rear mains... if i remember corrctly they used Nord bearings which are supposed to be a bit wider. :? I used NORD mains throughout on my recent 12V build. As you say, they are about 3mm wider, and another bonus, they work out slightly tighter than V6...

Re: HP figures...

I'm not sure if it's any help...but my recent experiences with my supercharged 3l. 7psi rising to 8 from about 6k, gave 256bhp at the flywheel and 261lbft. I did some guestimate calculations. Assume 30 bhp to drive the blower, that gives 286bhp, divide that by 1.5, gives about 190bhp....which is pre...

Re: Supercharged 12V/Stratos copy/engine tech type stuff

Right, results time. As anticipated due to the low boost figure, somewhat dissapointing. 256bhp/261lbft Plot attached. Rise in boost at top end suggests it's starting to flow-limit maybe. Advancing the cams a degree saw no change in boost, few bhp more power, bit more torque. It didn't want an awful...

Re: Supercharged 12V/Stratos copy/engine tech type stuff

Minor update before the RR session on April 9th - I've finally sorted the drive belt niggle - nothing more sinister than not enough tension it seems. With the 'fixed' adjuster it had before, the belt always had a tendency to try and climb off the blower pulley on cold start. Back when I first tried ...
