Re: ENGINE REBUILD Q FOR BARRY / KEVIN

Deonne, When you contact RSR in Germany ask for John Moffet, then get a quote for a similar set-up to what I have. KONI locally can supply the Sport Adjustable Shocks for about R4800.00 including fitting. 220bhp is achievable at the coast but call Dawie De Villiers(Glenwood Motors) he has some Group...

Re: Does it seem like this site is dying to anyone else?

John, Just for your edumecation..the wrongly described term of "insults" are better described as a cattle prod in the derrierre just to see if people are awake. The SA/Oz exchanges are cricket derrived and by general concensus are harmless much like Kevin's attempts at racing in his own g...

Re: ENGINE REBUILD Q FOR BARRY / KEVIN

Thanks Kevin ; I will be sure to give you a call. My objective is to keep the car as stock as possible ; with some savy upgrades mostly centred around the chassis , braking and handling. Each of which can be done at my leasure and returned to stock easily being " BOLT ON " only . I do not...

Re: ENGINE REBUILD Q FOR BARRY / KEVIN

Hi Jason ; thanks for the compliment ! The scoop on the hood of the road car was not functional and was made in that fashion only to clear the Airfilter housing on top of the carbs. The Stock intake for some of the 3.0 litre cars I have seen also featured a modified housing with a double intake to ...

Re: Ooops, I dropped a valve

Definitely not preignition since I heard nothing and was running high octane gas at the time. I usually use Shell V-Power mostly for the detergents. Its octane rating here in the US is 93 which is the average of the research octane number and the motor octane number. Could I have been using too HIG...

Re: To turbocharge or not?

John thats a great option. Its worth a go to use that 3.5 ls with the straight cut box made by Henderson. Its got a tall 1 and 2 with a very close 3,4 and 1:1 5th. That is a very strong crown and pinion. Dougie is gonna test it in his 3.7 race car . I would like to see it used for a race before i ge...

Re: To turbocharge or not?

For drag racing the straight cut box should be perfect with those loadings. I am speechless, To use one of the best handling chassis that Alfa released on the consumer market and use it for drag racing has got be a no-brainer :!: :!: Kevin, get off those vitamin pills. They are not doing you any go...

Re: To turbocharge or not?

Kevin, Did you break the original 3L GTV6 trans or the 75 3L 3.5 with LSD type? What about the straight cut CR gearboxes that Dawie has been making up of late? You see, I don't want to change the basics of the car, so I would rather do what I would call, enhancements to the original, as I've done to...

Re: To turbocharge or not?

Kevin, Thanks for the response & wise words. You have seen what my 3L GTV6 looks like & not because it's my car, I'm sure you will agree that it's one of the best still left. I'm going to stay true to it's origins, N/A. I'm not looking for more power but rather more usability & ease of t...

Re: To turbocharge or not?

I need some feedback. I have 2 GTV6 3L's, the red one is stock standard & that I'm keeping that way, my white one though presently runs a Glenwood Motors big bore 3.5l. I'm happy with the performance but after just finishing my 156GTA with big bore & turbo, well it's changed my perspective ...

Re: Does it seem like this site is dying to anyone else?

This site is old, the cars are old and the people are getting old too. I first joined this site after meeting Mike in 1996 or so. The number of people calling it quits due to the economic situation is also going up. I even saw JK selling his big runners. What does that mean? His 12V V6 days a...
