Re: QLD Floods
Its easy to be tossing around 'shouldas' and 'couldas' at this stage, and there are plenty of things to blame govts for, but the State and Local Governments have responded very well to this situation. While plenty of individuals didn't take it seriously until too late, plenty did and have minimised...

Re: QLD Floods
Contrary to media reports, most of the water is quite slow flowing. I would say 90% of the houses that have flooded will be able to be reinhabited after removing carpets and hosing them out. Sure, stuff will be lost, but it can all be replaced. If you still have a house, it makes things much easier...

Re: GTV 6 2.5 V6 running problems
This may sound harsh, but it will work. If you think it's a water related issue, start the car and get it warmed up, then using a watering can, wet various components when the engine is running....if you suspect ECU wiring, soak it. You've got nothing to lose, if it is a water issue, water has alrea...

Re: worn cam, clatter
.... *Lifter stops rotating ( lifters are ground with a slight concave face and ride slightly offset from the cam lobe centreline. This is meant to make lifter rotate and promote even all over wear of the lifter face and cam lobe. The cam lobe is often also ground with a slight taper across the lob...

Re: worn cam, clatter
I really don't think this is an oil pump/oil quality issue. Cams just wear through the surface hardening eventually, it's how it is. The cam and lifter are a metal on metal sliding surface, separated by a oil film. The things that can cause a cam lobe to wear through are numerous: *Poor manufacturin...

Re: Found a source for axle bolts
Minimum order $50...I only wanted four.
Strange thing, when you ask around no one knows, but when you finally find somewhere that sells what you need, everyone knows all about it.

Re: Found a source for axle bolts
Yep, they are the short bolts, not the 60mm ones that run through the CV body into the axle flange.
Try finding an M10x1.0x60mm bolt.

Found a source for axle bolts
After calling everywhere all over Australia and being told "too hard" and firing off emails all over the world, this guy helped me out: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290514315035&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT He has a few left, so it could be a good idea to buy s...

Re: The Orange Cab -MD's New Racer
Hi Mike, glad you're getting something out of this topic set. I might be wrong but my gut reaction to members of this Forum is that they have a passion for transaxles but not so much in the sense that they want to make concourse cars out of them but more so to either get them warm for the street or...

Re: worn cam, clatter
You know what I see on the sides of that lifter? Corrosion pitting. If that has happened, I be that lifter has stuck at some stage, that'll wipe out a cam lobe.

Re: LSD?
I notice LSD's most at work on a slippery surface (hoists) but just barely applying enough power to get a wheel to lose traction. If you get right on the point of losing traction, you will definitely feel and hear an LSD start clutching in and out. Dumping the clutch won't always show anything. I've...

Re: Phew! Rear brake job not so bad.
Does anyone know the diameter and pitch of the thread for the CV joint to axle flange bolts off hand? Looks like a 0.75? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v418/typhoonpud/Cars/Alfa/Rearbrakes002.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v418/typhoonpud/Cars/Alfa/Rearbrakes001.jpg http://img.photobucket....

Phew! Rear brake job not so bad.
Well, dodged a bullet on the rear brakes, less than three hours to get the calipers and rotors out. Only had to cut the head off one bolt out of the 24 axle/disc flange bolts. The correct tools for the job helped too, I don't know how you could loosen these bolts without an allen drive socket and 24...
