Nice GTV6 site

A nice GTV6 site can be found at:

http://www.gtv6-156gta.be/LaGTV6presentGenerale.html

It has a lot of brochures, articles, and other memorabilia.

Password for all protected items seems to be gtv6

(lowercase letters)

Transaxle ratio spreadsheet

Posted over on the AlfaBB there is a nice Excel spreadsheet that calculates speed-in-gear as a function of rpm for different transaxle diff ratios and different tire sizes:

I loved the breathless description of the 8C. It was like a love letter to a car. It is interesting that they felt a need at the end of the article to give a history of Alfa's use of 8 cylinder engines even going so far as to mention the stillborn GTV8.

It has some nice drawings that may be of use to you.

For what its worth, I replaced my stock filter with a larger K&N oil filter and saw higher oil pressures on the gauge at all conditions, from cold start to hot idle. (I use Valvoline 20W50 synthetic.) My winter cold idle pressure is about 70 psi and my summer hot idle pressure is, well, not zero...

Checked out two 3 liter engines today: indeed they do have a different engine number (AR06124) than the 2.5 liter (AR01911).

1984 starts at serial # 5501 (the last four digits of the VIN). You indeed may have a late '83 (or really one of the first "1984s").

Question

As for the block, shouldn't you be able to tell from the serial number stamped on the block (just behind the left side head) what block size you have?

2.5L is AR01911 * Axxxxx *
3.0L is AR06124 * Axxxxx *
