Re: Flooding caused by injectors sticking open on cold start

Hey 75evo
Thank you for the reply. I put in a 2.5l ecu and the car started right up. I can’t remember what the differences between a 2.5 and 3.0 ecu are, but I’m happy that she is running again.

Flooding caused by injectors sticking open on cold start

My 12v 3.0 is flooding on cold starts. The injectors seem to be stuck open, but the problem is intermittent. I pulled the plenum and pressurized the system by holding the AFM open and it sounded like all cylinders were spraying fuel wide open. I took the fuel rail out and the problem stopped. I turn...

Re: transaxle upgrade's

Very nice project GTV-racer. I never thought about the possibility of that bearing plate flexing and changing the ring and pinion mesh.

Re: How high should I rev my new 3.0?

Thanks for the replies. KevinR- I do have new ARP rod bolts that came with my THS connecting rods. Those rods, combined with the Venolia pistons, should make for a tough bottom end. 75evo- I do have the Verde rockers, not the later style ones. If I had known about the difference at the time, I would...

How high should I rev my new 3.0?

As I stated in the introductions forum, I have finally gotten my car back together and driving after many years. I used to have a sense about these things when I planned the build, but i have long since forgotten how much speed an engine like mine is said to be able to handle. Engine: 3.0 12v Verde ...

Re: James Z. WI-NY-MX,

Murray-I'm encouraged to hear that you have revved your V6 so much. I know that the 2.5 is a bit happier to rev than the 3.0 12v, but I have a lot into this 3.0. I wonder what everyone thinks my rev limit should be. Maybe I will make a thread and ask.

Re: James Z. WI-NY-MX,

Fortunately I also have high performance valve springs. I wonder how high I should rev it? I recall reading that the rockers are one of the main issues that limit how high we can rev, but i don't remember what the conclusions were. Might have to do some searches on here...

Re: James Z. WI-NY-MX,

Murray- You run your GTV6 up to 7,000? I have not broken in my engine yet and my tach is not working, so I have not taken things up high yet. I can't wait to hear what she sounds like at those speeds.

James Z. WI-NY-MX,

I have a different thread on here, but it is so old that I thought I should start up another. This month I finally managed to get my 3.0 Milano Gold back on the road. It has been down for the count for the past 9 years while I went through everything between the rear wheel bearings and the crank pul...

Currently planning to use the crowns from the 2.5 unless someone thinks that it's a bad idea.

locking crowns on main bearing caps

I pulled my oil pan off of my 3.0 verde block that I hope to install soon and I noticed that the machinists that assembled it did not use locking crowns or locking tab washers on the main bearing caps. I have a spare parts 2.5 block with lock crowns and tab washers and I am wondering if I should use...

Re: Gasket questions- sump and intake runner

Update:
1. I ended up re-using the gaskets. I coated them on both sides with copper gasket spray before I put them in.
2. Figured out where I got the idea that sealing the sump with silicone is a bad way to go: I read it in Jim K's book. I guess that pan has to come off.

Gasket questions- sump and intake runner

1:Is it a bad idea to re-use intake runner gaskets? 2:My engine's oil pans are currently sealed with silicone. I believe that I once read that it is not advised to run silicone down there because it reduces the amount of space beneath the oil pump. Can anyone confirm or debunk this idea? Thanks for ...

Re: Vented rear disk fitment

My disks that are shown in the photos are the Brembos.
Jim- Do you think I will be ok if I run them with the thicker side facing out (as they appear in the second photo)?
