Re: Heater valve

My heater valve is still functioning but I would prefer to be proactive and replace it before things get wet on the passenger side. I have seen a picture on BB of a modification of a spider heater valve that it was said that 'Jim' makes up. Does anyone know who this jim is and how I might contact h...

What is the head gasket used with this monosleeve?

Jim do you know difference between nord and TS crank ? cose i have one nord crnak regrinded 0.20 and carbonitrited and want it in my TS engine if my actual TS crank is damaged (antifreeze in oil shittt :( ) [/size] The 75 TS crank is the same as a late Nord engine . . . except for pilot bushing. -------- snip------- Jim, thanks for clearing up the water return problem on the GTVs. It doesn't seem to be a problem in Alfettas then. That picture of drilled water jackets, although beautifully done, seems excessive if I have enough space back there. How about the piston/rod issue? What about ke...

I've read this whole thread with great interest. The idea of the 155TS engine on a Nord block intrigues me greatly. I haven't been able to determine from the discussion of the water return problem, if it is just due to the space at the back of the head to the firewall in older GTVs. I'm thinking ab...

Naturally the spider cage bolts don't flare... It is the other 3 that we want to hold togther... The commercial cage piece does not support it - the holes are large and allow movement if you ask me... I seem to recal that-that piece was a limp-home solution and also a safty addition to keep the thi...

Re: Cam Pulley Tools

Just a quick thread for reference as I've just spent ages searching out other threads for pictures of tools and techniques for removing, timing and refitting the cam pulleys. (I need to change the cam oil seals and then make sure the timing is spot on afterwards) Tool to lock the cams together if y...

Here's the variable intake that Mazda used on the GTP cars in 1992. Took this photo at Sebring.

The 155 connecting rods are shorter than the 75 and 3 mm shorter than the Nord. I have no idea why . . . it makes no sense to me!?! Yes, the stroke has also been changed to 90 mm, but the block is the same as the 164. The 155, 164, 75 and Nord liners are all the same. The Bonneville engine is a mix-...

Why not attach the trumpets to the wall? The flow coefficient is better unless the inlet radius is very large . . . and then it's equal. I've attached a table from the "Handbook of Hydraulic Resistance" by I. E. Idel'Chik. The note . . . (not sharpened) . . . refers to the edge of the flar...

Mats, The starter is from a VW Rabbit . . . about the same weight as a 1600 starter. Trick was finding a reverse rotation starter with the same pinion. Weight is not the big issue at Bonneville. We gained only 1-2 mph per mile in the last two miles. Aero and horsepower are most important. Yes, I thi...

I'll try to clarify a couple questions of compatibility between the 75, 164 and 155 TS heads . . . in no particular order. The 75 and 164 heads are interchangeable. The slot on the rear of the exhaust cam is used to drive a second distributor on a 164. The 164 timing cover is very different and has ...

Ross, One minor correction to your description of the FWD TS rear main seal. The FWD block (164 and 155) has been shortened so the seal sticks out . . . but it is in the same location as the Nord or 75 TS. I've also included a section drawing of the 75 TS cylinder head and manifold . . . sorry I don...
