Re: 1-Year Notice of Forum Closure (End of 2018)

I’d be happy to contribute yearly to keep this forum from closing or relocating to Facebook or any other social platform (don’t know what would be worse). Would we want to make that contribution as a subscription or donation? What do you think? I’d rather keep away from advertising, but it is the on...

Get the emerald. It's great (used it on my racecar) stuff and awesome bang for buck.

Re: Ivar Olafsen, #66 Alfa 75 2.8 V6 Compressore

That is one fantastic looking car! I'm really curious about the floor of the car and the diffuser. The front quarter panels and the skirts look good too, I like the idea of it. Looking forward to more pictures.

Re: Shifter

I have driven Mikes car with his final (of later) design and it was absolutely the best shifter I've driven in any alfa. Mikes later design is brilliant and could be made nearly as light. Show 'm Mike!

Re: Alfa romeo v8 engine

For a small series I would use the Montreal engine to keep it Alfa, otherwise the powertec V8 is just brilliant. 10,500 rpm Baby!!! It's light, it's dry sumped and no slouch with 360 hp...... Just mill some nice Alfa camcovers and have idiots call you a bastard. By the way.... If you are not going t...

Re: ACTUAL budget race GTV6... suggestions?

Come on guys...... You can't judge that quickly. In the first video the 147 is faster because of a damp and very cold track (around 4 degrees) AND the guy in the 75 is driving it for the first time and it isn't his car (it once was before it was finished)! He had trouble getting a feel for it and ma...

You can get blanks from JE in any size you like and mill them yourself to get your own spec. At least you got control then....

Re: What to look for when purchasing a Race GTV6

I don't know about your regulations so I can only give general advice. #1: Make sure the body is rustfree! Taking care of rust costs a lot of time/money and a rusted body isn't stiff. You want your racecar to be as rigid as can be. #2: Buying a proper(!) ready built racecar saves you tons of money a...

Re: When should a gearbox have an oil cooler ?

I know a couple of racers who have the castrol 90W/140 in their box aswell. They do full season (8 raceweekends) with their oil and do service off season. Change oil and check diff. Never heard of weird noises or excessive wear with the castrol and haven't experienced it either. I've raced it too li...

Re: When should a gearbox have an oil cooler ?

The serious 75 TS racers here use Castrol 90w140. It's the same oil BMW uses in the diffs for all M models. It can handle the abuse of a 200 hp Ts without an oil cooler. There must be a BMW dealer around?

Re: Drive Shaft CV's keep breaking

Hi Mike,

what grease do you use? Standard grease can't handle the shock, load and heat generated in racing. Then your joint starts to wear out pretty quick.

Redline CV2 grease is inexpensive , even when it's shipped from the US (and it matches the color of your car ;) ). Can't hurt to try...

Re: Drive Shaft CV's keep breaking

Overhere everyone has had their problems with the cv's. The solution is the type of grease. I use a special motorsport grease which I've bought some years ago from a WTCC mechanic. Unfortunately, I don't know what type or brand it is as it came in a blank container. It cost me a fortune then (120 eu...
