Trimming down the guides depends on your cam profile, valve spring strength and max RPM you'll be going. Imagine the force on the valve if you'd be getting a little float on closing at 7800 rpm and the extra strong springs whacking it onto the seat. That's what would cause deformation and eventually...

Gently heating the shaft with a propane torch, while putting a wet cloth on the retaining spring should help it come loose as well I'd reckon? The Busso V6 engine used external balancing. That means that the crank itself isn't balanced to 0 grams, but was balanced to predetermined un-balance. You'll need some form of distributorless triggering of the coils. That would boil down to some form of ECU rather quickly, unless you want to fabricate your own analogue electronics, or mechanical advance system with 6 contact points. Selling the Stratos??? It's unfortunate that you never got to enjoy it. Maybe put in a 24V 3.0 engine and just drive it like that?

Argh... even the currency converter is a mess at Veloce. They state the Euro price just one click further. Then they only accept credit cards. Really, how hard is it to accommodate international buyers?

How will the chain hold up? I've heard quite a few stories of chains needing replacement because they slack rather quick on road cars.
