Re: New book?

Hi Kevin, your books are on their way as of last Friday. You should have them sometime this week, if UK Customs don't screw thing up somehow. I would appreciate comments after you get around to reading it... I've also put it on ebay, but since I am a first-time seller (although a 20-year buye...

Re: New book?

It's a good day today... After almost two months of delays, the first batch of books arrived this morning. The 'Alfa Romeo High Performance Manual for the 24v and Alfa 75 1.8 Turbo' is now available for 47€+shipping. It's much bigger than the two previous books, with 270 pages, 295 pics and tables. ...

Re: OILS ??

I used Knockling G4 to help properly map ignition advance on my 1.8T with very good results. I do have a good ear and knocking is very evident on the turbo, but this gizmo is even more sensitive. It's not a permanent install, just used to verify mapping. It uses the oem 1.8T knock sensor located on ...

Re: OILS ??

This is a bit of a problem, as egt must be measured VERY close to the port (usually right after the header flange) and this is only done in serious shops/dyno development. Additionally, the ideal egt of ANY engine is largely UNKNOWN unless determined after comprehensive bench tests of the particular...

Re: OILS ??

Afr sounds ok, although I'd prefer ~12.7-13 wot, but advance doesn't tell me anything as a number. Has it been determined on the dyno, using knock sensors and egt, as that is the ONLY way you can be sure it's right on. I don't want to go to the BSFC discussion 'cause it would take too long and I kno...

Re: OILS ??

What about afr and ignition advance? Lean afr will raise engine temperature and so will lower than optimal advance -just saying. :?

Re: OILS ??

I will assume you're talking about a 75 (Milano in the third world). Long ago, some guy proposed installing the radiator from the 75 TD model along with the twin fans, with minimal mods. This setup can still be found new on ebay if you look frequently -mostly Italian ebay. Make SURE your thermostat ...

Re: Supercharged 3.0 24V

If I thought you knew what you were doing, I'd give your SC 2liter half a chance. But since your knowledge base revolves at best around different patterns in basket-weaving, I would think you should name your future engine 'MD's Grenade'. I would strongly advise you to wear medieval armor while driv...

Re: Supercharged 3.0 24V

Hey Z, I don't know $hit about the US M3 versions -I know they are different than Euros. Beating a car in the track depends on a lot of factors and its very difficult to do a fair comparison. Leaving aside unfortunate cases like MD, where he has to pit every lap or so due to natural causes, you have...

Re: Supercharged 3.0 24V

Typical Captain Kangaroo slander! it would be nice if you pull your head from under where its buried (I still don't know how you can bend that far down!) long enough to hear a few things -I say hear, as understanding would tax whatever gray cells still remain, blowing the main fuse and soiling the c...

Re: Supercharged 3.0 24V

Both of you clowns can go jump in the deep end of the pool headfirst, when there's no water in it. You'd be doing the world a great service. MD can leave his brain to science, they can use the two halves as wheel chocs!  If you clowns want POWER, get rid of your Italian shitboxes and get ...

Today, I will not comment about your next to non-existent intelligence, nor about your despicable sexual affinity to animals... Instead, I will give ya some reading practice, of something that I intended to include in the book but decided against. Not all engine stories are successful, we all know t...

Re: New book?

Don't know what the official drink is in Oz, but around your part of the caves must be turpentine. Lay off the stuff and see what you can do about that empty space between the ears... I understand it'll take ya a couple days to read these lines but I'm sure some of the guys here can help if you stop...
