Re: Hello from relocation to UK with my two South African GTV6's

I have loaded up this GTV 2.5 to bring to the UK . It’s such good car and far more “ relaxed “ and economical to drive for work in the UK than the carb GTV . Having said that I prefer not to take carb GTV 3.0 to work. Some pics of the car at dry docks before it goes off to Felixstowe. I always drive...

Re: Our 1600 Junior restoration

Was very difficult to source proper vacuum hose but we got an importer of US pipes so was lucky there. Can’t use any pipe as will collapse ! Also got pipe specific for brake fluid for the bottles ... not easy to find either.

Re: Our 1600 Junior restoration

Upon testing my booster we found it to leak .Problem was corrosion !!! You can see the pit marks that created the leak ! Once sorted then vacuum tested again then it was back home to install.

Re: Our 1600 Junior restoration

I borrowed a set of pipe benders and started the long process. Eight hours later the brake and clutch lines were complete . It was so much harder with engine in but still totally doable .

Re: Our 1600 Junior restoration

The intention was never to have a concourse car but I thought I would redo the entire brake system. The is originally a very low mileage car at 71000km only so most pipework on the brake lines was in relatively good shape . Having said that I decided to replace every brake line ( rubber and steel ) ...

Re: Our 1600 Junior restoration

Nearly two years have passed and the car is 99% complete. The car has stood in storage in its incomplete state which as lead me to do quite a few items again . Cars don’t like standing in storage !!! Sadly my father passed away over a year ago and we shared this project and the only time I get to wo...

Re: My rebuild!

What you can do in the meantime is I can send you all the drawings , specs and adaptors if you want to the BMW ZF box conversion. I just helped my friend do his in SA on his race car and he's definitely not complaining about any handling issues. The flywheel and clutch is now off the shelf basically .

Re: My rebuild!

Jules , that crown and pinion you sold me ages ago is still successfully been used on a 3.7 . I think you sold it then as it was so ridiculously tall. So yes I would go down this route sourcing the super long final drive from the " as I call the American 3.0 75) With the 3.7 it will still pull like ...

Re: Project 2 : front mount SA GTV 3.0 - Sei diff

This is my friend's car who has used my flywheel and clutch set up with same ZF box as mine. He has used the X5 3.0 diesel prop with CV at back , rubber at front . No problems at all.

Re: Project 2 : front mount SA GTV 3.0 - Sei diff

I'm still using the sedan diff in my car with a one pice prop of 850mm long with two CV and a torsion resilient tube with no problems and perfectly smooth. I had problems when I had universals as the angles were greater than 3degrees and off in both planes . This is my prop

Re: Hello from relocation to UK with my two South African GTV6's

In between assembling my late fathers 1600 Junior I have been getting clutch unit rebuilt. The pressure plate and thrust bearing is of very low mileage with virtually no wear on fingers at all . I have cleaned up the the housing with light bead blasting, had new linings on plates done by Norbrake ( ...
