Maybe the difference is there to reduce the weight / innertia.
The 3 mm shorter steel connecting rod and a much lighter aluminium piston wrt the 75.

Unfortunately not with my (or any other) Alfa this time. Building a 75 24V is a dream but is a lot of effort. Ok, lets start organising, the next one is about 9 months away for the first "einstellfahrten". OK lets dream this GTV6.com 24h 2006 team up: - Ron has a shop in the neighbourhood...

@Micke, Hmmm, didn't know you actually would drive. Checked the site and saw three other names listed as drivers. Saw that the TT retired after ~13 hours.... What was the cause? On tv was a short coverage and looked really challenging. Anyway the bad whether did us decide not to enter the cold mud b...

Maurizio: Hey, you got more power then my 2.0 carb... ;) Yeah sure  OK, mainly no budget  Dutch alfa romeo trofeo is way out of my league, much $$$$. Car is already to much modified (coil overs, negative camber back) to run in a standard class, like the german alfa romeo roockie cup. And ...

No real racing, just fighting myself in achieving the prefect lap on the Nordschleife.
I'm more working on clean/smooth driving, with the underpowered TS.
G forces from cornering is my thing ....

Sometimes a comparable car/driver is in front/behind, which gives some extra urge to push

 wrong choise of words, should have said: cold deforming of the surface. The introduced compressive stress increases resistance to fatigue. ps From a theory book from my study time, I just learned (again) that this is a very common threatment for gears, theory fades fast  Some "googl...

When I have my gears lightened with traditional high speed machining and drilling, will I need to have any hardening work done afterward? I thought that the outer gear surface was hardened and that the parts that would be subject to metal removal (inner area) were softer unhardened steel. Am I inco...

We'll make new clutch flywheels as well. Complete thing of 4140 CroMo (DIN 42CrMo4). This for the Helix twin plate 7.25" clutch. Weight will be about 1810 g so IMHO making it complicated with alloy and steel surface doesn't pay off. J = M * r^2 , so Micke is right. If you're going through the ...

A few days ago I had the origional exhaust cam of my 75 in my hands and the cam has the provision for the distributor on both ends.
On the AR parts cd the cams for 75 and 155 have different numbers.

When you order from C&B you have to mention used for a 75/164 or 155. And as far I know, do they work with the exhaust timing gear also mounted on the intake cam and ditch the vvt.

Found a long time ago this simple program for calculating optimum length http://www.bgsoflex.com/intakeln.html
Don't know if the numbers are any good, but looks straight forward.

I borrowed the piston from the machine shop. A 155 being there for a rebuilt has some delay
Will get a qoute for the machined piston in a few days.
Weight I didn't check ... :?
