OK thanks, knew about the mm length difference, but will measure what is in my problem engine. There was slight exhaust valve/piston contact and I am looking for a cause. Timing was ~2 deg early but still should not be a cause for contact.

Here in the Dutch trofeo cars claim to be around 210 - 230 hp. With some very serious ($$$$$$) modifications. So if you go for HP then it would be a turbo, but I think this is cheating.
For track use I stick with NA.

moving the front pivot point changes the squat/antisquat and will definetly change the way the car behaves. I have thought a bit longer about this and must change my point of view: the COG will not change, ride height stays about the same. The front rotational point of the dion will move a few mill...

Re: DeDion

Someone once explained that the DeDion arrangement in the GTV6 produced some degree of "active steering." l The only thing I can imagine is when your bushing of the watt linkage is worn. The dion can turn around the front pivot point and actively steer under load. Angled arms won't have a...

I made a couple of little gadgets that hold cheap laser pointers, one goes into the centering bushing on the flywheel, and the other onto the transaxle. Even if the axis of the pointer is not EXACTLY co-linear when you rotate the input shaft or flywheel they will describe a circle-and you just aim ...

8) A nice experiment for the coming summer ...

So resume a caliper clearance of 2.5 a 3 mm would do the trick!

Jim true,

first did not have numbers for cast iron handy. But checked it and cast iron is 11*10^-6*K^-1
It was just to give an idea, I have no clue what temp a brake disk gets, 400 K increase was also a best guess…

some quick math with some estimated numbers!

Rotor dia = 310*mm
Temp = 400 * K (increase during breaking)
a = 12*10^-6*K^-1 (for simple steel)

Dia increase would be 310*400*12*10^-6 = 1.5 mm ! :shock:

I was looking at the squadra site and there is not that much difference in performance when you look to the 164 TS <'92 and >'92 (old / new head). Just a smoother torque curve. http://www.squadra-tuning.com/English/EN_alfa_164_20_TS.htm http://www.squadra-tuning.com/English/EN_alfa_164_20_TS41.htm O...

Well I did the course in one of Ron's cars. After I discovered the ring was only 150 km from my home (always thought the ring was in Nurnberg ~450 km from home) I went there to go have a look end 2002. (about 10 years to late.... ) After some walking and sightseeing along the track I thought it was ...

A low budget solution: a fuel pump.
There is someone her in the neighborhood who owned a 2.8 gleich.
On that car the gearbox oil was pumped around by a fuel pump.
The only thing it didn't have was a thermostat to activate the pump.
And I would like to see some sort of a filter in the lines.
