Zamani wrote:Just curious, that means the 155 TS 8V had a different crank than the 75 TS? It seems that the bores are the same? If so, seems kind of dumb for Alfa to do that. Changing cranks just to go from 1962cc to 1995cc?
liners are the same from a 155 TS 8v, 164 TS and the 75 TS

Mats, the pics from Dennis are from a 75 head.....

Hmm found something interresting:
All the 155 TS (1.7, 1.8 and 2.0 8v) heads are the same... which are again identical to the 164 TS (my 1992 to 1997)

OK back to work  boss comes in

Ross, first of all this engine has never been built (at least I know off). I have never rebuilt an engine , but when you start, you got do it right. I have found a machine shop chef who is very willing to help on my wild plan. (and who has a weakness for alfa's, he owned a 1300 gtv which revve...

:D old forum: By Zamani on Unrecorded Date: Bore X stroke 75 TS 84 x 88.5mm = 1962ccm 155 TS 84 x 90mm =1995ccm I suspect a different crank and the heads must have been revised. Some guy in the US bought both heads and he confirmed that the 155 TS had a narrower angle head. the 155's have the cast i...

Some quick math..... Offset piston pin 1.75 mm Skim piston crown 1.6 mm And a 3mm 45 deg chamfer on the outside + -------------------------------------------------------------- all together will added give 1:11.5 8) there is also some more material that can be lost, as there has to made some more va...

After 8 weeks of waiting for a quote for 85 mm pistons and sleeves etc for a reasenable price. The machine shop and I decided to go a rather exotic route 8) . On the old forum Micke mentioned: I have pics of both pistons. 155 TS pistons can be used in the old TS by some modification (valve clearance...

OK Jim, Yes the engine will rev better. So imagine a simple mass/spring system hanging on a rotating disk, which will give an amplitude up/down to the spring. Lowering engine parts inertia will only will enlarge the ampitude, but mass and spring are still the same. So natural frequentie stays the sa...

The RZ flywheel (hey Mark :-) ) looks a bit scary. But is much better then the picture posted by Jim. (First look without real calculations etc.) If you look at the small amount of steel left as springs and the mass still on the outside, the natural frequency of RZ’s flywheel will be much higher. An...

:D That was the future plan.
A cheap sliding cal. inboard use with vented disks, to keep the unsprung weight low.

But first start with using the origional brakes to the max

Barry,

Marvelous setup, is the handbrake hydraulic?
What size and brand master do you use, with the bigger volume at front/back?

Saluti,

Hi Guys! Although it' not the gearbox section, I'd like to ask a question. You seem to be skilled in metallurgy. Do some of you know the material quality and heat treatment (maybe it's not the right term, but I hope you understand) used for transaxle syncro rings? I would highly apreciate any answe...

AlZn5.5MgCu 165 Hv is not very corrosion resistant. To keep the hub nice totally anodise (is always good to do that with aluminium, but its a cost issue). Hv = Vickers I cant find specs for au4g, but a machineshop would be able to locate the material with the werkstoff number I added. It is always a...
