Re: South Africa - 1982 GTV6 2.5 Restoration (50/100)

Another method for rust prevention I have had success with. Get parts back to bare metal, sand blast, sand, paint strip, etc. Clean (acid), wash, dry and coat with spray on Black Galvanising paint. It gives a mat/semi gloss finish that won't chip. No undercoat or primers required. Eventually "b...

Re: Need help on the Alfetta GTV6 propshaft

I have a complete GTV6 shaft and the rear section of a 75. The front pieces are the same as I've used the 75 front piece in a GTV6. I'll dig the 2 rear sections out and measure them if you still need that info.

Re: How Time Flies

Murray, It's a bit hard waking up to that view each day but someone has to do it. 35 degrees Celsius here today so send me over a bit of snow or something. The coldest we got here outside last winter was 9 Degrees Celsius. Not even a frost on the ground. There are no rabbits and only a few roos here...

How Time Flies

I haven't posted for quite a while but regularly visit and read. It's been quite a number of years since I first started with the GTV6's. Still driving the 3.0L and still enjoying it. Decided to use up some of the new parts I've accumulated over the years and give the GTV6 a refresh. Still running m...

Re: weird propshaft noise?

A couple of things to check also;

Rear top of the muffler hitting the bolts on the transaxle yoke.

Did you remove the yoke from the transaxle? If so check the nut for proper tensioning.

Re: MegaSquirt fuel pump wiring

Hi Jalamari,

Here's a photo & diagram that may help. You need to mount them this way to ensure the fuel pump shuts off if the engines stalls, does not start after a few seconds or if the ignition is on without the engine running.

Re: ain't givin up but need help

Hi, If it is only the tacho that is the problem check these connections. Tacho signal is from the coil, a white wire to a connection block on the firewall next to the bonnet catch. Check all connections and cable ends on and around this block. The two white wires on the connection block are connecte...

Re: ain't givin up but need help

Hi,

A couple of ECUs I have show the following on pins #28 & #16 as you describe.

ECU Number - 0 280 001 117 - No connectivity

ECU Number - 0 280 001 132 - No connectivity

I can't recall whether the the last ECU was from a GTV6 or Alfa 75 (Milano)

Re: Fuelpump mod. to L-jet

Hi /C It's been quite a few years and I'm still running MS on my 3.0L on a 2.2 board. Check these old posts as you need to modify Steve's fuel pump circuit to ensure the fuel pump shuts off if the ignition is on and the engine is not running, stalls, etc. My fix for this on the old 2.2 board is on t...

CONGRATULATIONS !!!
That would have to be the greatest rustoration project I have ever seen on any vehicle.
Most would not have bothered to even try to save it.
Keep up the great work!

Re: Windscreen Wipers and Body Plastic

Wheels are 15" Zenders, I think were fitted when the body kit was fitted. Could even be a dealer fit from new but I'm not sure.

Re: Windscreen Wipers and Body Plastic

The body triangles, bottom skirts, front vents, etc were grey from new. Gunmetal or charcoal with the smaller items in black will give plenty of contrast. Get the plastic bits painted in acrylic with plasticizer and they will last a lot longer and have a decent shine on them. Are you fitting the Zen...

Re: Radiator swap (75 > GTV6)

The 75 radiator is not a direct fit to the GTV6. The GTV6 does not have a coolant overflow tank or a cap on the radiator. The plastic tank, notorious for cracking, is a pressure tank, directly connected to the radiator, with the radiator cap fitted to it. The plastic tank uses an "air" gap...
