Re: 24v headwork - power gains

There is a class of hydroplane / boats here in new Zealand that run the Alfa v6 cause of weight and ability to make good power. Quite a few of them are seeing 9000 rpm. For what I've found out they run essentially standard apart from solid lifters. Bigger cams. And tidied up ports. They are on itbs....

Re: 24v headwork - power gains

Have to wonder what bell housing pattern the later motor has and at least in holden form they are rear wheel drive and have the manual 6 speed gearboxs fitted from factory and cheap enough that would solve the transaxle problems strength to especially if turboing. I was talking to a guy i know that ...

Re: Limits of 24V engine?

I was talking to the guy that had a bit to do with it the other day. He was telling me the engine builder is a guy in otorohonga here in the waikato so i'll try and get a hold of him. The heads were ported and polished, modded cams, Still used factory valves, They had solid lifters for it but were n...

Thread revival :)

There are guys here in NZ that use the 24valve 3ltr engines in hydroplanes because they are lightest and most power can be had from them. They spin up to 9000 rpm and above. They altered the cam belt setup but still have issues mainly from shock loading when the boat gets airbourne, lol I havent got...

Re: Alfa romeo v8 engine

Talking of a fiat v8, I remember seeing a picture of a guy splicing the 8 valve twin cam heads onto a rover v8 block. spacing was very similar and the later twin cams are reverse flow so you can have two 8 valve heads both with the inlets in the middle instead of reversing one or working around that...

The clutch assembly got taken out today. Going to open it on monday and see how bad the old one is. We'll end up religning it as long ...

Alfa 75 Clutch

I bought an alfa 75 a while back and it has a slipping clutch. The clutch is about to be replaced but we have hit a brick wall trying to source the parts for the clutch. No one seems to have anything in stock or anyway of getting one. I can get a new gtv clutch but being bigger i assume that would r...

Oops Didn't see it was actual you monster, lol

Sorry monster for the loose of you beast. Glad you alright :) well recovering. There's also another reason why im trying to work out the all wheel drive thing and would prefer alot more weight. I have had a few experience growing up in big power rotarys. There are heaps of them in christchurch and i...

Nah thats not me but your right would be easy conversion

Theres some real got pics of that 131 on the 124turbo site. He said he missed the sound of the twincam but for power and out right madness the rotory kills it hands down. Pity to see the car damaged like that after all the work he put into it, hope he was alright. Yeah i realise it i an alfa site. I...

I agree with you john

The rally spint is very cool but if i had a choice i know i'd definately still go for a Giocattolo, what do you pay for an original on now?? i imagine it would be huge money.

pictures make more sence. :)

Thats the front diff and the rear subframe off a skyline

Finding a Getrag 6 speed from on though now that alot harder to find but for what i can find out the six is an overdrive anyway instead of straight through so a standard 5 speed is probably as good anyway

Shortlife Is Right :)

I am looking at going all wheel drive, the biggist issue i can see is modifing the sump because the front diff assemble goes through it be it in a tube, lol What im thinking though is if i can get the alfa engine to sit back far enough in the engine bay then the diff assemble will be infront of the ...

I was thinking supra as well but the nissian setup is alot easier to find and alot cheaper. you can get a whole back end out of a cefero for $200 complete, thats the whole cradle, diff brakes etc. and if your going the rwd roote you could use an s13/s14 silvia front struts and get the skyline brake ...
