Re: Spot welding engine bay

Well I jacked up the front end of the car and place jack stands underneath. Much less flexing and the doors can open and close properly. I'm sure there is still quite a bit of flex but I may have reduced it. Remember I just spot welded many points, not seam weld, at the strut towers and the the othe...

Re: Japanese Earthquake

I was about to go to bed when my wife said there was an earthquake in Japan. I told her yeah, a day or 2 ago. She then said, "No, it just happened a few minutes ago". Wow! There was a smaller one in China, another one in Indonesia within a day or even a few hours of each other! And just a few days o...

Re: Post some vids boys!!

Scary, pictures of severed limbs comes to mind. I wonder if another layer of sheet metal around the driver's leg are in the transmission tunnel would be of help, safety wise.

Re: Coil on plug alternative to the Bosch part

Apparently some E46 coils are just a transformer, no ignitor.

Luis,

I dunno about MSII, does it have a built in ignitor or not. As far as I know the VAG COPs have ignitors and fail a lot.

Re: Nürburgring tragedy, Ron is selling off cars.

I got that email too. Closing whole operations or just the Alfa part?

BTW, since they the investors or whomever screwed up with the Ring Fun land, why do they want to tear everything down? Turn it into a what?

Re: Coil on plug alternative to the Bosch part

I dunno mate, can you post some links?

I saw a link on the VEMS page which seems to state the 540i coils are passive....that's what we need right?

Re: JK 24v 3liter ..at last!

Ken,

What about your oil pump setup, did you use the late model chain type of 164 type?

If you chose the 164 type, did you have to make the spacer for the absence of the oil pump pulley drive on the crank?

Spot welding engine bay

Guys, I'm slowly trying to spot weld the seams in the engine bay. I figured, it can only help stiffen the front end. Especially the seams at the shock towers. Finally found the correct heat setting for my MIG welder so that the beads would actually not be too big (not hot enough originally). Has any...
