Re: Busso V6 3.2 24v Coil Pack

Bosch Part number 0221504456 is just a dumb coil, used in Alfa 24v engines. In the 164Q4 and 156 cars, the output stage is in the ecu and the other two 24v 164's (with afm) have two separate power modules on a bracket near the engine.

Re: The Orange Cab -MD's New Racer

Senile old goats seem to have a thing for destroying cars in Oz, thinking they can still drive... Stop hiding from the guys in white and do us the favor of donating the space between your ears (where normal humans have their brain -it will take a lot of pictures to explain to you what that is)...

Here is a NOS set from Italian ebay: http://www.ebay.it/itm/ELETTROV-ALFA-ROMEO-75-2-0-TD-2-4-T-1066547-/132046375039?hash=item1ebe93c87f:g:vRkAAOSwo4pYYqyb Alternatively, you can buy the twin fan set from the gta and with few mods in the frame (a little cutting, drilling and rivets on the mounting ...

Re: Cambelt types for 12v engines

MAKE the sprockets? Why would anyone do that? You can buy them new from Alfa parts or even better they regularly pop up on ebay (usually german ebay).

Re: Cambelt types for 12v engines

You do that and you'll be rebuilding your engine soon. It happened twice to some guys with an Opel engine here until they found someone had used the old style sprocket behind the crank pulley! ...Oh, belt tension was correct!

Re: 24v headers for rwd.

Hi guys, 7 sets of headers are done and there's the possibility of doing another 2 sets while the car is still in the shop. If anyone is interested, now is the time to say it.

Re: Maserati Ghibli GT

Murray, I have no info at all on the carb cars. I was enchanted with the 4-cam ones, after ~1992. At the low end of the scale was the 2liter V6 with 245hp and high up the Ghibli Cup 2liter with 320hp. Remember the old legendary ad trick of taping a $100 bill on the windshield of a AC Shelby Cobra an...

Re: Maserati Ghibli GT

The only reason I didn't trade my 75 3liter+$$ back in '98 for a beautiful light blue 424 (but with a Ghibli Cup 320hp engine) was RELIABILITY -or better, the lack of. The owner of the dealership was a good friend and he talked me out of buying the car. Since then, I have come across many Maser stor...

Re: Oil sump drain plug size

Yes, you are right. Looked around for M24x1.75 plug today, no such thing exists. Best thing that fits is a (non-metric) 5/8" plug which I got. Hmmm, don't want to live with that. What I'll do, is to sleeve the hole with a threaded insert and then drill/tap the std M22x1.5 thread. Crap, I hate non-st...

Re: Maserati Ghibli GT

Great cars but I personally prefer the 424 with four doors. More practical and inconspicuous. This one sells for 7,500€ now...Beautiful! Just think of the 3-way suspension adjustment at the push of a button!

Oil sump drain plug size

Hi guys, Strange things happening with the 24v motor I'm building. I'm missing the oil drain plug. The sump of course is rwd V6, from some gtv6 or 75V6, but the sump drain thread is not the usual M22x1.5. It seems its a M24x1.75. Looked closely at the thread and seems to be factory original, no sign...

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine

Just for good measure, I had another shaft modified. Looks like some other guys here are thinking about going rwd with a 164 24 valver. 8)

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine

Spent the morning modifying the rwd oil pump shaft to look exactly like the 164 24v fwd one. The reason is I am one 24v pump short...probably lost it in all the junk I have or lent it to someone  Anyway, the solution was to drill and tap the hardened tip of the shaft and install a cylindrical ...

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine

Using the shaft from the 164 would be the obvious solution, as I did in my engine. However, I don't want to lose the last 164 24v pump I have; I have 2 spare 75 V6 ones though. I will therefore plant an M6 stud in the 75 pump with a spacer in the middle and that will give me a 164 pump. Its the simp...

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine

Pics? Hahah! We woke up with ~2" on the ground, all water pails frozen solid, -1* at 7am. After that, it's been 100% sunny all day and the white $hit is almost all gone! That's Athens for ya! It may snow some tonight and go below zero again. The only danger is driving and walking around in the morni...
