I see that in the photos that there wont be the function problems that I mentioned. I thought things were worse than that. It may be a good idea to see what rotor diameter will fit. Measure the disc to the top of the pad, add about an eighth of an inch, times 2 , plus the diameter of the rotor, and ...

Greg, There may be a big problem with the pistons wanting to cant or tilt in their bores with pad wear....and then stick. Pad wear will be really bad. I remember something about that being very bad fom mopars but those had floating calipers and real big pistons. I'd say fix it first then drive it. S...

Thank you Murray. I was thinking that it was the slipped tooth, but I wanted to get some confirmation on that as I'm not yet familiar with these engines. I don't think the head has been reworked. My reasoning is that the engine is a 3.0 from a junk yard....still has "1988 alfa romeo milano"...

All I need here is a "yes, you're seeing the skipped tooth problem" or "no, you've got something else wrong".

Thank you,

Where do you see a slipped timing belt?

I ask because I've got the cams at their respective marks, but the P on the crank pulley is past the pointer by .....about a tooth of the timing belt. I havent gotten into it further yet as it's bloody hot here, 107 today, and I've been trying to hide in the air conditioning. It will get a new belt,...

Question about the old race page

On the race page reached thru the main AlfaGTV6.org website there is a video of a lap at Laguna Seca....does anyone (preferably the author of the video) know what the lap time was? The clip was 2:03 min, but I was wondering just what the lap time was. In 94 or 95 I had a track day at Laguna Seca in ...

Hey, cool! Someone else here has a Cuda.

Mine's a 70 318 car with a 440 4bbl, 727 and will actually go around a corner and stop more than once. Its also where I first put a hot coil (a blaster 2) . It has the mopar perf electronic ignition conversion too.

Ican't do all that as I live in the Peoples republic of California. I can do the coil though and msd has 3 different blaster 2 coils for different ignition systems. I'm just trying to figgure out which coil to use.

alternate ignition coil

Has anyone tried a MSD or Accel performance ignition coil in place of the stock bosch one on a L-Jet GTV6? Does anyone know what the internal resistance of the coil is? (provided I'm remembering that there is no ballast resistor correctly) Thanks, Scott ps : I did try searching this but didn't find ...

Thanks guys! I had been reading about the driveshaft quirks for some time now, so thanks again. I took the plenum off an found that I was getting 40 to 50% opening of the throttle with the pedal on the floor. Looks like a previous ownertried to use the GTV6 cable and linkage on the milano throttle b...

That's a new one on me. But then I come from carbs mostly....we even thin the throttle shaft and knife edge the throttle plate to get more flow :D

Bill, The throttle should be flat with the pedal on the floor.....this is something i check on every car that i get anymore. On the injected cars there should be a stop at full throttle if you open the throttle by hand. Adjust the throttle cable so that there is just a little play between the thrott...

Tom,

While it may be different in Texas, here the insurance co is required to get comparable vehicle sales ads....and can't use the "book value".

The point of insurance is to put you back where you were. Don't settle the claim unless they provide proof that their valuation is accurate.
