Fernando's Alfa GTV6 3 Litre 24V Twin Turbo

Hi Guys, This is the first photo I can put up with more to follow of my twin turbo. The motor was built by Oom Div at Glenwood Motors. My brother , Jose` , has been mostly responsible for turning this car into a reliable runner for me and I will attempt to discuss everything that this has entailed. ...

Re: Pictures,of racing, group 1 etc,etc,

Kevin for fear of digressing from Alfa's let me just say that the Group C era was brilliant. I see you captured that beautiful Aston Martin in Mobil colours, what a shame Ford pulled the plug just before that programme was about to really take off. The class winning GTV6 3 Litre in 1983 was in the c...

Re: Pictures,of racing, group 1 etc,etc,

Dick Pickering and Maurizio Bianco were 16th overall and 1st in Class T for the Group 1 cars. I remember the 2 Hour Lodge race that year. I sat in the BMW pits as a guest of Tony Viana when they were running the two Gunston sponsored BMW M535i's. I remember at the end of the race walking back to my ...

Re: Pictures,of racing, group 1 etc,etc,

Good grief Kevin, you are giving our age away. The chap on the right of your pic of Miss SA is old Eon de Vos. He is a commercial pilot and weirdly enough I had the opportunity to meet him on a flight back from CT some years back. That last picture was taken at the 1983 Castrol 1000kms which w...

Wow, the world has really changed from when Alfa Romeo were the king ding a ling of Formula 1 and the young dog Ferrari was trying to steal it's crown.

Now I see the Alfa Romeo emblem on the rear flanks of the 2015 machine.

Re: Pictures,of racing, group 1 etc,etc,

Watching Craig drive the wheels off that GTV6 3.7 litre was the highlight of the day for my brother and I. My uncle from the US even extended his stay just to watch this event. It is he who I have to thank for my love of motor racing and cars. These pictures Mark has put up brings back so many good ...

Re: Our 1600 Junior restoration

Howzit Kevin, Long time no speak. :( Your 105 series project with your dad is really looking good. Nice to see another 'Fernando' involved with Alfa's. I have been very quiet on any kind of forum for a few years now but have decided to kick my own butt back into action. I won't derail this thr...

Re: Drive Shaft CV's keep breaking

Hi Mike, Try AGIP as well and it sounds almost stupid, but replace the clip that keeps it all together. Not sure what you call that little bugger that requires a specila tool to clip it inward then stretches outward upon release to keep the CV in. :wall: Mine failed spectacularly at the old We...

BMW M3 Anyone ?

Looking at those pictures of the new Milano just saddens me no end.Another boring FWD Alfa. Please tell me why I need to look at BMW or Nissan, aka 370Z,to find a proper RWD drivers car ? Alfa have all the potential to make a stunning RWD car clothed in stunning body work and fitted with a puk...

Re: The new Milano

Is it okay to cry ? Sorry Alfa, but no way in hell will I fork out money for that,it looks about as exciting as an Audi A3 which I find as dull as dish water.Very sad and in that warehouse setting it looks just like another kitchen appliance with wheels.

Howzit Mike,on that I most heartily agree. :D Bathurst ranks up there with the Ring and SPA as amongst the most incredible race tracks still left before those frikkin safety nannies try and ban them one day.

Hi Simon,I sure do.I still have my copy of Autosport that covered the race  Remember how Mansel smacked the barriers going up the hill from St Devote ? It's an epic sporting weekend for me.I get to watch qualifying for the Monaco GP and straight after my rugby team,The Bulls, take on the Crusade...
