Re: 166 24v into 116 GTV
But on the Mercedes, bmw and corvette they're perfect in line and don't twist... The alfa v6 lies crooked in the car. It's off centre by something like 10 degrees or so. So every turn of the propshaft twists the front guibo. Putting the engine in straight will require new enginemounts and a new rea...

Re: 166 24v into 116 GTV
Kevin, That settles it in my mind. It is an exoskeleton for the flex disc. That gold paint... must be worth 5-10 BHP huh! A ton of cars use these hardy joints. All of them fail. Mercedes, BMW and even the Corvette which has them in a torque tube so deflection is not an issue. At any rate, non...

Re: 166 24v into 116 GTV
The wear shows how much the disc twists which is what it is designed to do. My bet is that the most damage (wear) to the discs occurs from radial growth from high rpm centrifugal forces. How much clearance is there between the cage and the outer part of the flex disc? Since 1994 (~60K miles) I am on...

Re: 166 24v into 116 GTV
Is it the rpm that gets the guibo torque? I think it is the centrifugal at higher rpm's that does the damage.

Any consideration of monetizing the site to offset costs?
I for 1 am totally against this appoach to running a forum. There becomes a conflict of interests and that very rapidly intrudes into the freedom of speach we all enjoy here. I was once...

Re: Headlight lamps
You probably know this but just in case, with LED's get the bulb the same color as the lens, otherwise the color gets filtered out.

Re: Headlight lamps
Murray, I am not sure it is write-up worthy as all I did was source H4 and H1 bulbs for the headlights. They are direct plugins for the halogen bulbs, even the wiring is just plug-n-play. The dash lights (and the headlights) I sourced here https://www.superbrightleds.com/ dash lights used: https://w...

Re: Headlight lamps
Put LED bulbs in my Cibie Z-beams and could not be happier. Tons of light and very little draw. The newer LED H4's maintain the original pattern as well so no worry about light scatter. Changed the dash bulbs to LED too!

Re: HP figures...
The GT2871R is made by Garrett. It is a hybrid between the GT2860RS and the GT30R's. Since it is a .64 T2 it can be only one exhaust wheel, the 53.8mm wheel. It's a GT2860 exhaust wheel mated to a compressor wheel almost the size of the smaller GT30R, terrible combination for any motor. The compress...

Re: HP figures...
A 460BHP T2 based turbo does not really exist, whether .64 or .86 A/R. Even with a compressor that will flow the 43-46 lbs required to generate 460BHP it will be restricted on a T2 turbine housing. Look to the T3 family of housings the .63 A/R will give you more response and the .82 A/R more top end...

Brian, yeah, I really have no clue WHAT I am talking about here.... Well at least you are beginning to come to your senses! :D I have heard that is the beginning of enlightenment. You are so predictable though... whenever your leash of knowledge gets short you just run and hide under Dawies or Domi...
