Re: alfagtv6.com moved to a new host
No worries, thanks Kevin! Zamani is really the one to be credited with the alfagtv6.com site still existing as he provided ample motivation for keeping it from retirement back in 2019. He is also the guy who devotes time to moderation and administration - the really time-consuming parts of managing ...

alfagtv6.com moved to a new host
The hosting company I used for many years started jacking up the rates a couple of years ago. You guys were generous enough to donate enough cash to cover the increased expenses so this site limped on for a few years. After another proposed rate increase in 2021 though, I decided to move the site to...

Re: New GTV6 project, 1981 Rosso
Thanks Kevin! How did you accomplish this so quickly? I'm guessing 3d scanning and a 3d printer? My employer has one of these printers available for experimentation and I've been meaning to play with it a bit
I'll send a PM.

Re: New GTV6 project, 1981 Rosso
Yes they are available. The car I bought had a broken standard front air dam and missing tea-tray so I wanted to buy fiberglass replacements from Bob at Alfa Panels in the UK. I noticed he also made a SA 3.0 spoiler and bonnet, easy choice for me :D . His panels look good, but plan to spend lots of ...

Re: New GTV6 project, 1981 Rosso
I made some improvements to the air intake system. Ignore the zip-ties, I have some proper stainless clamps on order :). I previously had a temporary configuration with a cone filter in the same location as the standard canister filter. I saw in the logs that the Intake Air Temp was usually 30 degre...

Can anyone tell me how to make something close to the 3 liter bonnet duct grille?

Re: New GTV6 project, 1981 Rosso
looking good Michael , when is the SA Bonnet going on ? :D Haha, soon :D . It just needs to be painted. I painted the spoiler myself and it looks pretty rough (bodywork not my forte) so I thought I'd get that bonnet panel professionally done. I have been pondering having it wrapped in black to see ...

Re: New GTV6 project, 1981 Rosso
I have spent lots of time on my engine management recently. To make sure the engine was running well, I installed an Innovate wideband Air/fuel ratio gauge and determined that my car was running lean at WOT - AFR somewhere near 13.9. To correct this I contacted Al Mitchel (on the AlfaBB) and he made...

Re: New GTV6 project, 1981 Rosso
Thanks Kevin! Also for the ideas on mounting fiberglass bumpers. My idea is not quite as neat, I do have some mounting bolts showing.
I painted the bumpers black just for fun, and I think I like it a bit better than the red bumpers, mostly because the trim behind the bumpers is still black.

Re: New GTV6 project, 1981 Rosso
I also ordered a 3.0 South African bonnet from Alfa Panels. With the price of the cars in SA now, I've given up ever affording one so a (vaguely) similar one is my only chance. Watch this space

Re: New GTV6 project, 1981 Rosso
In case some other poor soul also becomes fascinated by the black box... my experience was quite odd. I found that when I first test drove the car, I thought there was something wrong with the passenger side wheel bearing as it made an occasional thunking noise from he passenger front side. I then r...

Re: New GTV6 project, 1981 Rosso
This is what I'm planning to try first. As you pointed out Mike, the pink is (usually) power source and the case has a separate pin there with a 15+ label. Plus the pink wire is a little longer so makes sense that it does not connect to the back plug. I'll connect the white/red wire to the center pi...

Re: New GTV6 project, 1981 Rosso
Thanks for the feedback. I agree that I've not seen one of these and I have owned a few GTV6s, even an '81. It is clearly a factory part though. This is an early production car so I wonder if it was a leftover from the Alfetta generation? This car also has the ATE steel brake calipers which I think ...
