I think all the new cars are way too heavy. I'll bet this 8C Competizione is over 3500 lbs no matter what the body material is made of. They need to build this car to a 2700 lb weight target. That could be Alfa Romeo's competitive edge in the market place. V6, RWD, light weight, great handling, and ...

Falken Azenis Sport RT215 Tires

Anyone have much experience with this tire ? They come in a size I like, 215/45-16. I expect they are a track-only tire with soft high grip tread compound that wears pretty fast. Would one get a season of say six full track days with them ? Let me know what you all know about these skins. Thanks, Me...

I did a 1.55.6 last year at Pacific Raceway during the time trials for the national convention. I've got ok power but am using old hard BFG Comp T/A's and the brake ballence is all F***ed up with these early cars. I'll have an adjustable valve installed soon and am looking for improvement. Not sure ...

Car vs Car or Driver vs Driver ?

I was a corner worker this past Sunday at Pacific Raceway near Seattle Washington. Eighty cars were in attendance for the track day (not a race), approximately ten Alfas plus assorted other sports and sporting cars. Our two Washington resident former South African web buddies Michael Harris and John...

I wonder if the Diesel industry still uses the term "aftercooler"? That's how my Dad refers to them. He has a diesel technology degree from the early sixty's.

Steering Wheel Bind When Turning Right

Here's one I'm scratching my head over, maybe some of you sharpies will have some insight. My 82 GTV6 is experiencing resistance to turning when turning right. There is no resistance when turning left, it has the normal "free" feel. I put the car up on jack stands and got the same result. ...

Pete, I second Steve's recommendation on Greg Gordon's web site. That will tell you all you need to know. Another thought, with Bosch L-Jetronic being a common older fuel injection system, any professional mechanic worth his wages should be able to troubleshoot the problem. If they can't, I would't ...

Thanks for the input everyone. I'll go with the Helicoil.

Torque wrenches. Yea, I've got a big one but what's really needed is a small one for many of the fasteners into aluminum we have in our Alfas. I need to get one and not have any more screw-ups like this.

Stripped Threads in Exhaust Manifold Mounting Holes

Well I finally did it. Too many removals, replacements, and ham-fisted torqueings on my part. I stripped out the left rear hole for the exhaust manifold bolt. I’m still using stock cast iron exhaust manifolds so using those long bolts into the head. I’m wondering if a longer bolt might find enough t...

I enjoyed the read Barry. All in all, it sounds like a pretty nice car with bags of power. The USA missed out on some pretty fun stuff like this car. I just love the unusual and oddball cars out there. Yea, I haven't been posting much lately, but I still read regularly so I'm keeping up with most of...

I just did a web search and found: http://www.maserati.org.au/gallery/MASERATI/ROAD_Cars/GhibliGT_spec.html Maybe the heads were optomized for the 2.0L displacement and the increase to 2.8L was simply boring and stroking. At least they went to a 4-valve engine from the 3-valve versions we saw in the...

Interesting car there Barry. One that us folks in the US are not familiar with. What do you think of the car in general ? Can you tell us a little about it ?

What do you have to do to the engine/car ?

Thanks,

UUhhh. I'm in agreement with you guys. What a waste. My favorites are Plastic Pigs GTV6 track car and the original Alfetta with SS bumpers. Very simple with no adornment. The design's styling speaks for itself. Even ugly Alfas look no better with that add-on crap.
