Re: Exhaust Leak

Spoke with Phil today and he did not get a chance to look at this yet. I will take some pictures of the heat shield and share with you. The heat shield is very professional looking and we know it saves the starter from excess heat. I am surprised the the high temp coating doesn't lower the temp more...

Re: Power & performance figures for 24v with transaxle

Hi Zamani, The 328 GTS was the next italian sport car that I bought to supplement the GTV6. I purchased it new in 1988 and I really liked it. It is definately slower than my GTV6 is now but looks alot better. I traded the 328 GTS for the F355 and the F355 was definately the best sports car I had til...

Re: Power & performance figures for 24v with transaxle

On our Conversion, we are getting around 270 hp at the crank and have a 4.1 Milano Plantium transaxle. It is so much better than the original set up. Not as fast as the M5 or F355, but as good as the 328gts and much more stealth. :D I thought that a stock 164LS 3.0L 24V had 220 hp at the crank. Mayb...

Re: Exhaust Leak

Your right Zamani, When we started this project way back when, we did not realize that we going to be point on this conversion in CA. We thought that others had already done this conversion but we have yet to see another 24V GTV6 conversion in CA. It was such a good concept that just jumped before l...

Re: Electrical clock, stop lights, interior lights, wipers

What connectors should I check and where are they located? I have the service manual for Milano/ GTV6. However, it appear that the electrial diagrams are only for the Milano and does not refer to the GTV6 intruments and switches. I have studied this inside and out. Am I missing something? I have Phi...

Electrical clock, stop lights, interior lights, wipers

Ok, WTF, my Alfa is driving me crazy. Phil fixed my stop lights, interior lights, and wipers. He said don't worry about the clock since it makes alot of noise and just drains the battery. These items were all working when he gave me the Alfa last time. We checked it together. So during the summer, t...

Re: Exhaust Leak

Hello, thanks for the information. Spent all day loading the Alfa and bringing it to Santa Cruz. Having a trailer to tow the Alfa is the best investment since paying $300+ @ tow is alot of $. Also, I finally remember why we bought another sports car. Alfa's are high maintaince. DIY with a check book...

Re: Exhaust Leak

Just for my own information. Who mades these headers? We are trailering the Alfa this Sat to Phil's shop and I am going to share all this information with him. He probably does not need this information since he really knows Alfas. Thanks for the additional information and I will find out about the ...

Re: Exhaust Leak

Here is a picture of the header that I have for my Alfa. We went with the silver one and as you can see they were custom built. We had alot of problems with the starter when we were originally sorting the Alfa. I think we are using a stock 164 starter with a special heat shield that was made by Phil...

Re: Exhaust Leak

Thanks for all the advice. Bottom line is it's leaking for whatever reason. I spoke with Phil and he is going to help me again. I was hoping not to have to tow it to Santa Cruz before I made at least 1,000 miles break in. However no worries, I still love my Alfa and these things are expected to happ...

Exhaust Leak

Hello, I have just restored my GTV6 and have 533 miles since we took it out of storage. Last week I noticed that it sounds different and it is louder in the front passager side. We were at the CSRG race this weekend at Infineon Race track and my Alfa Buddies were checking it out. They told me after ...

Cold Engine Start Up

I was just wondering if anyone knows why a cold motor is hard to start up while a warm motor is not. On my GTV6 if the temp is around 50 degrees to 60 degrees it takes about 5-7 cranks for it to hold the idle. Once it is warm it starts up on the first crank. Today, it is around 80+ degrees and when ...

Re: Introduction

Hello Forum, Well, finally going to show the Alfa. We are going to Monterey Historic Car Races and will be in the Concours on Friday and the Track on Sat and Sunday. Will see how many Alfa's show up. I heard there are going to be lots of Alfa and will be meeting up with my friends as well. We did no...

3.0 L 24V Complete covers.

I need the full timing belt covers with bolts/washers if possible. I am hoping to drive my Alfa GTV6 to the Monterey Weekend 8/14 to 8/16. This is the only safety item that I can not find new. I have 3 new cover parts but it appears that the other parts are no longer available. I was told by the Alf...
