Re: Clutch spline count and shaft Dia?

Some friends of mine did that with original clutches. We have a company here in the Netherlands that can do that. They are specialized in clutches for tractorpullers, trucks and also cars. They can put new material on the plate and refurbish the pressure plate. We used to get old bmw 3.0 v8 manual c...

Thicker headgasket will also alter your distribution timing a small amount.

Www.headgasket.com makes copper headgaskets in any required thickness. But Jim's suggestion seems a better one.

Ask Jack at info@carburateurwinkel.nl

He is very knowledgeable with these things. He might be able to supplie you the right part.

Jack is also an absolute alfa/carnut and a great guy in general. He will most likely also be at the ssar in august.

Re: Balance issues?

Make sure the centering bush is in good condition and fits nice in the flywheel.

I always leave the bolts loose, start and run the engine a while and then stop the engine to tighten the bolts.

Re: 166 24v into 116 GTV

It's not easy, that's for sure. But you don't have to open up the engine and it beats using an unbalanced 12v flywheel.

The balancing guy i used a few years ago did something like that. We even sacrificed an old 2.5 crank to fix the flywheel to. :)

Re: 166 24v into 116 GTV

Copying the balance off the original flywheel is the easiest and best solution if you're not opening up the engine.

Re: Supercharger help please

Be aware that the Mercedes types usually come with an electro magnetic clutch type pulley.

On the 2.3 they used the m45 as well as the m64.

Re: 166 24v into 116 GTV

Bmw and Mercedes use a rubber as a front coupling in the propshaft. That piece of the shaft exactly points to the carrier bearing in the middle of the shaft. There is very minimal movement opposed to the alfa front donut. They generally last a very long time. At our driftcars we have never needed to...

Re: 166 24v into 116 GTV

But on the Mercedes, bmw and corvette they're perfect in line and don't twist... The alfa v6 lies crooked in the car. It's off centre by something like 10 degrees or so. So every turn of the propshaft twists the front guibo. Putting the engine in straight will require new enginemounts and a new rear...

Re: 166 24v into 116 GTV

Did the owner perhaps not notice the odd vibration in the driveshaft from a failed donut and kept on driving?

I've had a completely destroyed donut once on a 75 TS that you didn't really notice. No vibration while driving steady.
