Re: transaxle upgrade's

It might be nice to have a price for lazy people too... 8) One for the plate and one with the outside stuff included.

Re: 166 24v into 116 GTV

Yes, that's no BS. I recently built a 24v and put on it a rwd flywheel from a gtv6. The 3 stud bosses are HALF EATEN on one side due to the repeated impact of the 3 driveshaft bolts/nuts. But strangely enough, it is NOT the side of rotation! I wonder under what conditions this contact occurred. If y...

Re: transaxle upgrade's

Great work! Any ideas of approximate cost for the kit?

Re: 166 24v into 116 GTV

Hah! You must have made several of these, as they look almost exactly the same with the set you sent me several years ago, but not identical. I can tell from comparing the welding seam details with the pics side-by-side. Lots of water under the bridge since then...

Re: V6 24V camshaft saga

While you're at it, can you get some wheel-power figures before and after remap? I'm starting to collect data on 3.2 dyno runs from anyone who has and is willing to divulge. I would appreciate a list of what else is on the engine (free-flow filters, different airbox, headers etc.)

Re: V6 24V camshaft saga

Long shot here, but are your injectors matched? For na engines they should be within ±2% worst case and even better for performance engines Consider that for turbo they should be even better than ±0.5%! You are reading the overall afr, which says nothing of the individual cylinders...just a thought....

Re: 3.2 V6 - removing the oil filter heat exchanger

Quick way to remove: Find a strip of aluminum ~60x 20mm and ~1,5-2mm thick, wrap/bend around fitting and grab with wrench. Wrench digs into alloy which bites hard against the fitting and out it comes, no marks, no damage! Think simple, works every time.

Re: 164 24 valve conversion

Why re-invent the wheel? Sandwich plates are universally used and never presented cause for concern. However , most I've seen have small bores and have to be opened up -a fairly easy job with a Dremel tool. And not just the in/out bores, don't forget the internal thermostat (oilstat) port! I always ...

Re: 164 24 valve conversion

One note here regarding what I see in your pic. The blue anodized fitting in view, looks like it has a very thin diameter. Please check to make sure the bore inside is at least 12mm and not smaller, otherwise your lubrication circuit will suffer from insufficient flow. Fittings chosen should not be ...

Re: V6 24V camshaft saga

That's exactly what I'm saying regarding power. Measurements don't mean $hit if you don't have a baseline figure for the same engine in stock form on the same dyno, or if you're doing a before/after mods measurement. I can go to 10 different dynos and get 10 different readings from 230 all the way t...

Re: V6 24V camshaft saga

No master, as I haven't even tried different settings on mine! I did go to one dyno for a remap a few weeks ago and will go to another for the same job next month -just want to see what the differences can be as I hear numbers flying around. I am also looking for a bog-stock gta for a baseline measu...

Re: V6 24V camshaft saga

Oh, it will run even if you're ±10* off, but the question is where will it give the fullest power curve? That, unfortunately, is a question answered only by trying out different settings. Not too hard to do with the 24v car on the rollers, playing with adjustable cam wheels.

Re: V6 24V camshaft saga

Each cam must be set separately. Anyway, when you have the TDC gauge in, the two cams on overlap and the two dial indicators, you can do cams 1 and 2 in one step and then repeat for cams 3 and 4. This is quicker than doing one cam at a time at max lift. The regrind 'mistake' is valid for every cam p...
