Re: Engine mounts
75Evo, it sounds like your mount is soft or poor quality. Lightly jack the engine so you can nip it up then settle the engine and do final tighten with open end spanner. Then order a new mount 😉 Jimk, for me it's piece of mind due to available space with the exhaust i built for the 24v. Quite a tigh...

Re: Engine mounts
Yeah RHD, I now use a 147 booster and master cyl, far shorter in length as master mostly sits inside booster. Free'd up some room for the intake manifold and cut a lot of weight in the setup.
Custom adapted pedal box. Now Bmw e36 clutch master sits inside firewall.
I'm located in Aus.

Thanks! It's coming along
The 164 had a similar arrangement and could be adapted to be very similar.

Re: Engine mounts
12 or 24V
For the 24V I retained the factory bracket and double skinned the inner guard. Used a mount off a 164. Extended with an adjustment in the middle

Re: Which would you choose and why?
I'm pretty sure we're stuck with cast iron for liners, although steel is stronger/tougher per mass, it is more elastic and certainly doesn't have the porosity needed to hold oil within the surface grain structure. With the harmonics and surface temps reached at the ring face im sure you'd loose ring...

Re: Balance issues?
Hi all, an old subject I know but just a heads up! The 4 cyl cars nd v6 have a diff size input shaft sleeve. (The tube the throw out bearing slides on) so if you simply bolt a v6 clutch housing and flywheel assembly onto a twinspark g/box you'll have the larger bearing on the smaller tube. Which cau...

Re: 166 24v into 116 GTV
Another option for those interested in keeping the later hi output alternator is to remote mount the filter. It still means drilling and tapping the block but also means the the filter is now easily reached

Re: Project 2 : front mount SA GTV 3.0 - Sei diff
Nice work Kevin, I've often wondered why people use the sei diff considering its weight when the Bmw option is easy to find many ratios and I'm sure would end up lighter if built well. Plus the serviceability and strength

Oil level
Ill start with merry Xmas everyone. I'm curious if anyone has done any serious checks of oil levels while running etc... today while making my windage tray/scraper I notice when I cut the dipstick hole that the factory full mark is dead in the level of the crankshaft counter weights. Obviously the r...

Re: transaxle upgrade's
Hi Gtv-racer, nice to this coming along. Looking good.
Just curious, the needle roller bearing you fitted iinstead of the bronze bush beside reversed gear. Was it an off the shelf bearing of did you need to machine the housing to suit?

I can certainly recommend knipex, the multigrip pliers featured hear are the exact same pair I have. I'm a mechanic and have been using the same pair for 15 yrs. still going strong! You won't be disappointed. If I remeber I'll take a pic of the jaws on mine after a solid 15yrs of daily use from just...

Hi Scott, just bumping this thread. Interested to hear about the results of the bearing spacers. Did they have any effect on spindle flex?

Just curious, has anyone ran the factory 24v coils with a cdi unit?
