Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine
I know inlet makes a difference but i thought exhaust length had a greater impact on where the power was made.. what exhaust headers are you using.. would be nice to create an inlet that managed both.. been looking at some vauxhall V6 inlets as they seem to offer better solutions of the shelf than a...

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine
yeah standard is the 67mm at the exit.. i think the larger commonly used items are used to hide a flaw in the inlet manifold being to small in capacity but they probably hurt throttle response. As i,m going for a 3.7 and using the standard inlet manifold modified for larger capacity ( at least to st...

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine
loads of people go bigger than that.. 78mm 84mm but i,m with you that throttle response and airflow will suffer with something that size.. I was going to run something around 70mm and thats on a 3.8 lump.. or split the banks and run smaller twins in my mapper thought he could do the required tuning....

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine
yeah i was thinking along the lines of using two standard plenums each feeding a different bank.
something like the Ferrari set up ..lol
70mm throttle body is what my maths comes up with as ideal on the 3.8 litre with either 2 2.5 litre manifolds or one at 4.560 litres..

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine
Are you only trying single plenum set ups on this engine. best results are with twin plenum set ups from what i can gather though no relevant data to prove this as yet. Hopefully a modified GTA plenum with a larger capacity and 70mm throttle body will prove nearly as good. As it will be much easier ...

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine
In the above pictures you have the ferrea racing valves pictured.. well at least in the box. I thought earlier in a post you said they didnt perform as well as the standard valves I did i mis-interrupt a post.. anyway looking good. how long before it reaches a dyno and are these your own cams as ava...

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine
I might be wrong but i'm think the high rpm killer in most engines is the top end and factory fitted hydraulic tappets for no tappet adjustment. To start with most high reeving engines need light valve gear and this is the area where higher rpm really has an impact.. controlling the valve bounce. I ...

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine
Thats what i hate about 24v heads..
how did the flow testing pan out afterwards.. did you get an increase on the heads after re fitting the alfa valves

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine
Thanks Jim. Really look forward to these sort of tests as they sometimes disprove every thing you thought should work doesn't. Amazed at the performance valves flowing less than standard. I think we previously have had a in depth discussion about valves .. sizes penny on a stick designs rimflow etc ...

I need to buy a van load and bring them over there... and maybe then i can afford to bring back one of your rebuilt tuned engines lol
