Re: Transaxle help please

Some adds to the previous. 75 2.0 Carb - 4.1 open. 75 TS - 4.1 LSD 75 1.6 - 4.56 Open 75 1.8 T - 3.91 LSD Giulietta 1.3 - 4.78 open 4.3 open was in some 1.8 models. Problably Giulietta and 75 MZ beat me to writing. But I'm sure the 75 Nord is 4.1 over here at least. The 75 3.0 must be available with...

Re: Alfa romeo v8 engine

It CAN be done! Worthwhile - hardly. Engineering challenge - Definitely. I see the budget being the biggest problem. And it will consume a lot of time. I did see a loooong time ago someone making a V8 from two inline 4's. Can't remember which brand or where. And this is how the powertech engine is m...

Re: GTV vs 75 DeDion "Triangle"

Easy indeed. It is called a DeDion rear axle. And yes, you can swap them between any models. The SZ looks slightly different but then the "risk" of getting one isn't big. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Dion_tube Weight differences are reported but which ones are lighter or heavier isn't c...

Found the noise

Since over revving the GTV a while ago it has a horrible noise at low rpm. Then at about 3k it goes away and the car works as normal. Took out the prop shaft yesterday and found the reason. The parts in the lower photo I dug out from the hole in the flywheel. The guide seems to have broken in half. ...

Re: Transaxle help please

a) The LSD has no locking power without incoming torque. You really cannot say just by rotating it if it's dead or alive. I guess if you have the box on a bench it would be possible to lock one wheel, apply torque on the incoming shaft and check how the other wheel feels. Then again if it's out of t...

Re: Scrub Radius, Wheel Track and Coil Overs

A moderate increase in scrub radius is OK. In the 116 I'd say up to ET about 10 or so is still good to drive. I once had some (I think Mirafiori) rims with huge ET. Probably negative. CAr was very heavy to turn and sensitive to braking surfaces. My 5 ct conclusion is that if you want to widen the ca...

Re: Scrub Radius, Wheel Track and Coil Overs

Don't worry about Mats. He's just being a smart ass  Anyway as you just want to get into the ballpark it's not the las decimal that counts. The values I've used are 315 mm effective length 250 mm to shock mount 17.5 deg shock inclination. In my new LCA's I make 3 fastening positions for the...

Re: GTV6 Zender

I threw mine away. Quite a lot of weight.
I have a small electric fan for the sake of rules. Weighs 600 g or so.
For visibility I use an anti fog chemical. Works fine.
If you don't mind spending the cash the best option is a heated windshield.

Re: I love this track..Great in car footage.

I love that track. Almost reason enough to travel to upside down coutry.

Speaking about balls the size of water melons, I watch this vidoe now and then.

Intersting how much faster the slow corners seem from this angle than the 308.

Re: I love this track..Great in car footage.

If we are discussing fast cars on the Ring here are a couple.
Both with street tires.

And then a faster lap. (slick tires)
