Re: Lowering front

That is correct. That is the characteristic of a normal linear spring.

Torsion bar: M = c * angle

Just like a coil spring: F = c * x

Re: Lowering front

Actually it's like this: The TB has a spring rate which is constant. Changing ride height does NOT change the spring rate at all in any direction. Changing the LCA length would. What will change is the distance between the front center of gravity and the roll center. This "lever" determine...

Re: Twin Spark Engines

The figures shouldn't be that difficult to understand. Power [hp] and torque [Nm] Lowest is stock. Then 3 mods from different years. To comment the results the power band is OK. Reason why the level is not higher than that is regulations stipulating stock intake and exhaust manifolds. Other point is...

Re: ACTUAL budget race GTV6... suggestions?

Head weights. Lemme see. The Nord head I put on the scales today was complete. Cams, valves, cam cover. 23.9. (sorry. was NOT TS) V6 I measured 15.8 and 17.4. With valves, springs and retainers. No cams. Cams are 2012 g each (anybody tried gun drilling them?) Pulleys 788 g each. The S2k is great han...

Re: ACTUAL budget race GTV6... suggestions?

Checked some weights today. 24V6 / 2.0 TS Block w sleeves 32 / 29 Cylinder head(s) 41 / 24 Crank 23 / 20 Intake plenum 5.8 / 7.5 Oil pan 4.9 / 7 In all I think difference is smaller than 50 kg. My 50 ct is that if you cannot compensate for a couple of kg in handling there's something wrong. I've dri...

Re: ACTUAL budget race GTV6... suggestions?

Is the V6 really that much heavier?

It's hard to imagine. I have mine in bits and pieces so I should weigh them all.
Just as a feeling there shouldn't be more than maybe 50 kg difference.

Re: What to look for when purchasing a Race GTV6

I don't know what you consider fast but two corners at 150 and one at 200 km/h is fast to me. Yes - there are that fast kinks on other tracks but seldom long sweeps. Of course THE Ring has everything but when we speak lesser tracks. The one downunder I'd like to visit is Bathurst. Really seems great...

Re: What to look for when purchasing a Race GTV6

When I saw the track I also thought "bloody nice"
Nice fast corners. I also thought it was quite smooth until I checked a video with a fast car.

Re: Max HP for Transaxle

I don't know on either.
But a NA 3.7 should have maximum about 400 Nm and this is less than a 1.8 with high boost so I guess it should cope with it.

Re: Upgrading a 3.0L 24V

If you look at the numbers a 3.7 with 425 hp matches really well a GT3. Bore and stroke are almost same. Power too. http://www.porsche.com/uk/models/911/911-gt3/featuresandspecs/ However, the Poosch has variable cams meaning it performs well in lower revs unlike the Alfa would with cams for that HP....

Re: Helloo from Serbia! (My 24v conversion)

Why must they be super heavy? For improved on center feel or what  PS! If you have grunt you can afford slightly heavier wheels. PPS! Still my personal preferrence is superlight. This is why I don't like my new rims being so heavy at 7.5 kg each. On the other hand the size is 8.25x19 so light...

Re: Upgrading a 3.0L 24V

Again not Alfa related but the Poosch transaxles seem to keep the smoke inside even under power. The 951 box is very difficult to mate with Alfa's DeDion but the 928's is much easier. I helped a friend with his 951. We dynoed it a couple of weeks ago and it's not running well yet. Has just under 400...

Re: Upgrading a 3.0L 24V

If you go the turbo route there's no real need for 3.5 liters. Maybe some more grunt at really low rpms. My friends 2.0 V6 (164) has 400 hp already and a 3.0 is enough to break the 116 drivetrain. With my cylinder heads I need about 1.3-1.4 bar boost for 1 kHP. I can get an engine delivered from her...

Re: Upgrading a 3.0L 24V

With good porting 400 hp is possible. From 3.0 it needs very high revs. 3.5 only high. $/HP turbo or compressor beats the NA route. In my case I can't get it road legal with either and the sleeves were worn. My goal isn't 400 either but 350 should be possible. What you need for 400 hp: Good ported h...

Re: In the build...? Anything new being done..?

Schulze was very helpful and friendly. Advised about machining the block. He had machined blocks in exchange for a decent price. Didn't like the shipping though. We did it the other way. The sleeves are tight in the block. No leaking gaskets here. The machine shop said thats how they do it to all ra...
