You know, after I posted my message then shut down and went to bed I couldn't keep thinking about brakes! (Go to sleep will ya!) . . . Anyway, for my application I need to go bigger, but probably only as big as necessary. Here's the thought that kept me awake for a while; Maybe as big as necessary w...

Zamani ! Your first hand experience is good to hear. For those in the know, that can be something of an edge at track days. I'm sure JJ can just out power any brake setup he wishes to choose, but a 3.7L Alfa will be quite rare in the states so he'll be running with much more powerful cars (sucking t...

Say AlfaTipo, How often do you have to do emissions in Portland ? It's every other year in Washington. Although a hassle, if it's every other year in Oregon you could swap in stock cams, run through emissions, then swap back. The MegaSquirt like Peter Webb is using sounds like a great solution, alth...

Thanks JoeCab,

I feel most comfortable with the stock setup. Cross state drives get quite old for me when the exhaust drones on and on. Or maybe it's just me getting too old ;-)

I'll place an order Monday.

Keep in mind too that really large rotors increase unsprung mass and rotating inirtia. May look good behind 17" or 18" wheels but all that weight adds up. I hear stock Brembo GTV6/Milano calipers are heavy. I imagine good 4-pot calipers are lighter, I wonder how 6-pot calipers compare weig...

Thanks Norway, I've got an Ansa exhaust on the rear and although I like my GTV6 to sound good, I don't like it loud so I am concerned about extra noise. Maybe I'll search around for another source for the original type center section, if I can't find one, then I'll likely go with the straight throug...

So Norway (or anyone), Was the CSC center exhaust substantially louder ? I need to replace my center exhaust as it's worn out. I'm pretty sure I'd simply like the stock type as the fitment is good, but called IAP and they didn't have any and were having problems getting them in. Any other suggested ...

While not the answer JJ is looking for, I’ve stared at transaxle gear ratio numbers more than I should. I think the earlier 81-83 transaxle cars, especially those with the 3.42 R&P are quite the wide ratio of gears. 1st is good on hills but too short otherwise. 2nd OK but then there’s this chasm...

Hello Mozerman, Rotating the 7mm screw counter-clockwise should tighten it. Same for the outside adjustment for that matter. I've never rebuilt a caliper so don't know what the insides look like. Hopefully the threads (work drive?) arn't stripped. Good luck. As for the left rear caliper, turn the in...

I tried doing the upgrade to Motronic but ran into wiring problems. Specifically an area junction called the Relay Set. I was not able to come up with the right information on what was there in order to make the conversion. I finally got impatient and just went to the L-jet.

Say Junglejustis, maybe a few items that might be helpful. . . Check out alfaracing@yahoogroups.com for some info on reducing the rotating mass of the driveline. Specifically a clutch assembly from Richard Jemison. A 4-puck affair of about 5.5" in diameter and I believe the necessary pressure p...

Thanks to Zamani for letting me know about the new site. And Michael, thanks for your efforts. I too was missing my favorite site and was hoping it was just a technical issue.
