That's right Mats, I mount it with the deep part facing down, it looks shallow in the photo.

Re: Choke
Or you could go old school and fit a fast idle solenoid to the throttle plate.
Might be easier to control, simple on /off command.

Small air filter mod. (non performance)
The thing that's been annoying me is the air filter disappearing into the lower air filter box, nothing to stop it sagging. So, found a couple of pieces of square bar, lopped them to size with the grinder, zapped them into place with the Mig and job's done. Now I have an air filter that seals all th...

A little RHD brake mod
So, I was pumping the brakes yesterday, bleeding them. I bleed the old fashioned way, with an old tin, a piece of hose with a one way valve on it. Anyway, I was keeping an eye on the master cylinder reservoir and as I pumped noticed a staggering amount of upward movement, probably an inch of upward ...

They are very nice rims. I just had all my tires mounted and balanced. 225 50 15's fit perfectly on these rims with NO rubbing on normal turns and regular use. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+Sport&partnum=25VR5GFSPV2 a little sqeal on tight tur...

Re: Clutch Slave Replacement
I used to own a Valiant with a 4.3 litre six and really tall diff gears (2.92). A few times when I owned it, the clutch plates got hot and wouldn't really engage, it'd just slip. The fact it had really tall gears meant if you got stuck crawling up hills in heavy traffic, you'd have to do a fair bit ...

Re: Hi all! (Alfa 90 repair pics inside)
Been busy reassembling the car. Polished the tail lights before reassembly, ensured the gaskets were clean and used lots of sealer on them. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v418/typhoonpud/Cars/Alfa/Reassembly002.jpg Also buffed the whole car up, paint on the passenger's side is very average, but w...

Re: Alfa 90 2.0 v6 driveshaft, gearbox
I don't know much about the driveshafts yet, except that mine has a slight noise emanating from it . I can tell you that the 90 seems to be most closely related to the 75's (floorpan is IDENTICAL), so I bet you'll find it's all 75 running gear.

Paint it done! Yes, there are some runs, yes, they'll rub out! I haven't painted anything larger than a motorcycle fuel tank in 10 years, I forgot a few tricks! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v418/typhoonpud/Cars/Alfa/Topcoat001.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v418/typhoonpud/Cars/Alfa/Topc...

Re: Hi all! (Alfa 90 repair pics inside)
There will be more pics this week, lots being done. Yesterday I fitted new rear shocks, all fluids in the rear of the car drained and replaced. Just trying to pick my day this week to paint colour, the temperature is just hovering close to minimum for spraying 2k paint. I've also disassembled and re...

Hey, you were right! They're kind of hard to see if you're not looking for them. I wonder why the shocks have bumpers too, probably someone fitted the wrong type...

Rear shock bump rubbers
I just replaced the rear shocks with ones that don't have a bump rubber built in, is the extra 4" of travel on a fairly stock ride height 90 going to cause things to explode?
I couldn't see what would hit first with that extra 4" of suspension travel.....

Fuel system not self priming?
That's an odd one for me! I replaced the fuel filter on the 90, same layout as the GTV's. Pump just wouldn't prime until I cracked the line off the cold start injector and jumped the pump with ignition on. Never had that happen in any car I've owned before, they usually gravity bleed pretty much ins...

Re: Hi all! (Alfa 90 repair pics inside)
:D Yeah, it's the best place for a trailer, takes up no room, doesn't fill up with water and rust away etc. I have a block & tackle attached to the patio, just hook up one side of the trailer and haul away. I have next week off so I am going to hit the 90 hard, hopefully have colour on it during...
