Re: A new GTV6 2.5 entry into SA Marque car catergory

A friend of mine is using one of my Giulietta 1.6 gearboxes with the 75 TS limited slip fitted, works like a dream albeit the gearbox is very short for the std TS engine rev limit and power band. So using a Giulietta gearbox and fitting an LSD is very much feasable and it might be easier to find a G...

Re: GTV 6 2.5 V6 running problems

The dizzy will rotate a few degrees with the engine shutdown as that is what it corresponds to the vacuum advance. You might be having trouble with the diaphragm in the vacuum advance, try disconnecting it and see if it makes any difference, if it does just change it.

Re: Some more brake upgrades for the 116-Barry

I'd mill the 1.5mm off in a lathe and that's it if I were you, but I don't think it is much of a problem really.

Re: Teaching an old Motronic dog new tricks

I've been tracking your posts on the two forums, I just found my spare Ecu at home but again, i'm away for the weekend (enjoying the summer season), my 33 has the unleaded/lambda ecu, I still have to check what the spare one is as it's one a friend sent me from the U.K. I live in uruguay, i'll be ha...

Re: Teaching an old Motronic dog new tricks

Having a motronic 33 16v and as I said before on another forum, this is a huge breakthrough for all us alfa fans that want to upgrade a street car, I for one will be trying it out on my 33, see if I can get the same or better results than with the Megasquirt!

Re: Buying a GTV6 in Belgium

Be sure you budget for some serious corrosion repairs for any old car coming out of your nominated countries. I once bought a Fiat commercial vehicle in London that was 18 months old. A year after I bought it it was ready for the scrapyard. I know what you mean, I've been looking at other Gtv6's (m...

Buying a GTV6 in Belgium

I've been looking into buying a GTV6 for a while, and looking at the prices around both in Europe and the U.S. i've finally settled for Europe as my brother lives in Brussels and the car can be based there (I visit often). I wanted to ask our fellow European Alfistis if they could give me a hint on ...

Re: Race drive line

Well, seems you've done what we thought of doing, fitting needle roller bearings instead of the bronze bearings to reduce friction and thus heat. I'm starting to think these gearboxes are man enough to handle good power, you just need to upgrade it to cope with the extra heat. Kev, sadly the redline...

Re: Race drive line

Yes, he was using that oil for years though, but just started doing a few trackdays, it happened on 5 really hot laps in a 3km track with tight turns and lot of braking, so it all adds up really to being an oil quality and temperature thing. They are not the strongest gearboxes but without thrashing...
