user effects on bandwidth

Post by MR2 Zig »

Are there any ways that I can minimize my effect on bandwidth as I read thru the forum? ....What affects the site's bandwidth limits? Reading? Posting? Staying on the site for a long time?

Reason I ask is that I was on and reading last night and went to go to another link on the main page when I got a message that the bandwidth had been exceeded. I don't know what causes that and I don't want to be the cause of it either. Who would want to block out the input from the great humorists from the bottom side of the globe? I don't ....those guys are a barrel of laughs.

Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott:
I had to upgrade to a plan which allows more bandwith - this site now is allotted 50 GB per month versus the 35 GB previously. This is a healthy increase and should be fine for a while. Hopefully, that Bandwith message will never be seen again.

Big picture is that it is healthy for the data demands to be increasing ... I'm glad its not going in the other direction - and you do not need to change the way you use the site to reduce bandwidth consumption :D

That said, if any of our esteemed users have not donated to the AlfaGTV6.COM fund recently, please check out the Donate button above and help push the site along.

Thanks,
Michael

omg...

I would use up that quota (the new one) in two days.

Now it feels even better that I host my pics on my own line.
There is a donate button? wtf? Is my brain playing tricks on me? I'll try to figure out my paypal stuff asap.
