fuel only rev limiter

Post by bmacf »

Hey everyone, been pretty quiet on the Megasquirt area here on the forum. If been busy trying to get my ECU to squeeze into the footwell and removing the AFM from my intake (pictures soon).

Here's my question. I see in the Megatune software for Msn-E that you can set a rev limiter, and it appears that there is a fuel only rev limiter. I don't have ignition control installed yet, but can I put in a rev limiter? How does it work - does it see the end of the rev band in the table and cut out fuel there? Right now my map goes up to 7K but I only rev up to 6K - so I'd need to make edits to the table if that's what brings in the rev limit.

Also, is a fuel only rev limit ok? I don't want to go lean at high rpms or anything.

Thanks,

Bill,
Yes quiet on the forum but in the last couple of weeks I've finished my second MS build ready for my 2.5: GTV6 and fixed the 1st build with the fuel pump circuit. The fuel pump now cuts out after 2 seconds as per the MS specs. Also building a new intake for the 2.5L GTV6 and scrapping the AFM.
Have also just fuel injected and installed MS on my son's Ford Escort RS2000. Used a couple of Alfa parts to finish the job, :D , fuel pump and AAV. Runs beautifullyand tuned after a couple of runs.

You can't rev limit MS with the VE table with just fuel as it just runs past the highest RPM you set based on the VE table. Why bother though, just keep an eye on the tacho.

My next project is to put MS spark on the 3.0L GTV6.

David, thanks for letting me know about the lack of a rev limit with fuel only. Although I'm not concerned about my driving, I am concerned about my instructors when they take the wheel or an occasional friend who doesn't realize there's no rev limit.

How'd you get the fuel pump ckt to shut off after 2 seconds?

Thanks,

Bill,
You need to wire the alternate fuel pump circuit correctly. I de-soldered the components and re-used them. Here's a link to my revised diagram. As you can see I'm no graphic artist.

Looking at the board with the DB37 on the right all the components sit the right way up on the board.
