I am finally going to the Spettacolo in August . A friend of who has a mint condition 75 (with full EVO kit ) convinced me we should drive both our classics up there to Zandvoort this year . This has given me an excuse to do a major front end suspension rebuild as the last time I did this was over twenty years ago .

So my plan is to strip off the front suspension and replace all bushes , then scrape off the loose underseal which has gone hard and prepare again .

Bought my new bushes from Highwood Alfa . Having the Alfa tool makes life really easy to remove the LCA bushes as long as you only pull one at a time otherwise you can strip the threads !
Can always use a press to put them back in if you font have the tool .

Along with my order of bushes I got a wheel bearing kit . Wish I could locate the dust seal separately as this one for our wheel bearings has a lip on it which most suppliers don't have unless you buy it in the complete kit .
The part number is TC 42 56 7/9 made by NAK . The last digit is where the issue comes in . The 7 is the thickness but the /9 is for the extra 2mm the seal lip sticks out that other seals don't have ! Can any one locate this part . Going to do it again for my other but I wanted to order Timken or FAG bearings separately .

Finally finished that off including the ani roll bar bushes and upper control arm bushes .
Made sure got enough copper grease on the bolts so they never seize up !

Now that suspension is complete the painful process of scraping of the old hard underseal . It's still a pleasure to work on a rust free car that has spent it life in a dry climate . Plan is to install wheel arch liners once I'm finished to stop water getting into the recesses in the top of the arch which is really important now that this car lives in the UK !

Once the hard underseal was off it was pretty easy to wipe the residue waxy underseal away to reveal the cars original factory primer .
Before respraying I gave it a few coats of stonechip to build up some barrier strength before final coats .

Must say I do hate these liners but they are a necessity here . Give them a light sand , some etch primer and then stone chip .

Will start again next week doing some more work on the suspension and wheel arches . But will do Cambelt change and few seals in the meantime around the engine . Got a few " heavy sweats" around distributor and camshaft oil seal so those will be attended to first .

Are you visiting the spettacolo both saturday and sunday? I'll probably be there on sunday only. I'll keep an eye out for your gtv
If you spot an olivedrab giulia with an ugly old jtd engine in it that's mine.. won't be many of those around i guess.

Got some more work down . Feels like I'm going a bit overboard here as going through service records and replacing items which generally raise the ugly head after 10 years ( not bad) like the clutch master cylinder seals . I replaced the clutch slave about three years ago along with clutch unit so new clutch master was in next on list . Main issue what instigated this was I needed repair a 7mm thread on back of cylinder head for cam cover .
Cambelt got a change as it's been five years but only 3000miles !!!! While that was off I had two oil "seepages" or heavy sweats from the dizzy and cam pulley oil seal .

With the clutch master cylinder removed I could then get easily to a problem thread for one of the cam cover bolts .

The Green wire ! Should be called the green monster . This has given me nightmares on previous cars but this is on its way to be a problem with the crack through the casing . Usually I split it apart and separate and silicone it but this time I'm going to try the Porsche 911 ( 930) repair green wire . So that will be on order .
