The e90 is actually a vey nice car to drive. The steering especially is leaps and bounds above the e36. The only thing I dnt like is the Inline 6 is the sound, a bit too ....well it's not an Alfa V6.

With my old 9-5 I could enter at around 90kph, my whole body screaming "you're going to crash!", the 155 V6 manage around 100kph with a slight drift really on the limit...
My E91, the 320d touring I entered at 110kph first time without even thinking about it, mid corner I realized I was going pretty fast and glanced at the speedo.

My point is that che chassis inspires confidence and is very competent, it's just THAT good. But you say it's boring because it's too good? You need some quirkiness to keep your adrenaline level? :)

I drive daily a 118D and I have a similar corner and a very twisty / bumpy road to test around here. (no not the n'ring)
And I was surprised to see what speeds I was doing the first time with the bmw wrt my n'ring 75 ts.... (and that is a trackday car) :wall:
To me the 1series is an evolution version of a 75.

Stil love the alfa's, but I guess, was I brought up between bmw's... I wouldn't have an alfa bias.
Same with vw / porsche what ever... you just simply don't switch that fast because of the history, the clutter, parts, experience and the community you grew up with

Isn't that implied when u drive an alfa :)

Bmw and other german brands in their factory states inspire "false" confidence for me, it's too quiet, to refined if u know what i mean... They are good cars, no question about that, they just don't get my juices flowing when u put your foot down or point them to some curves. Otherwise great choice. Wish u many happy km's in it.

Pulled the propshaft out this Sunday, the whole job took about 4 hours.
That includes putting the car on jack stands, the exhaust, heat shields and other covers and the prop itself. Had not done any of those things before.
On the Alfetta I would still be swearing over the exhaust or possibly the gearbox.
It's quite nice when you don't have 100mm long fixed studs overlapping and a welded centre bearing bracket... :D
Did kind of recognize parts though as the props have two guibos. :o

Well, this is not something I didn't forsee. I knew there was a bit if wrenching to do and this is nothing compared to an old Alfa. Everything is available to buy and the parts catalog is available online and arranged in a very logic and easy way. I'm just buying all new fasteners as I replace parts. Costs nothing basically.
Compare that to, for instance, the halfshaft screws on my Alfetta. NLA for 20 years and they need to be replaced every other time you remove the halfshafts which tend to be VERY often when you're racing.

So far everything is great.

Also, Ring trip loosely planned for second week in July.

you are referring to Sa 18th & Su 19th?
That is a long weekend with the track open on both days from 8 to 19h. (ie will be a busy day on the track = a lot of track closers)

But maybe an interesting addition, the same weekend (17-19th) is in Spa, the dutch Alfa Romeo challenge driving. You are in the neighborhood when you are at the N'ring

Check, both in my agenda. 8)

Mats , did you use full rebuild kit for your gear linkage shaft . As I have similar gearbox from the e46 in my GTV it made a big difference if it is worn just to replace the nylon washers on the linkage bar .
