What is up with my Odometer?

Post by don hodgdon »

So I'm sittin' in the car this afternoon ('85 GTV6) warming up the engine and happen to notice that both the odometer and trip meter are turning! What is up with that?

Don,
Possibly a poor ground (earth) in the speedo sender/receiver circuit. Check all gound looms servicing this area. Check fuses in this circuit for poor contact also.

Basically the speedo head is getting sufficient false pulse to to think the wheels are moving and so it is registering the mileage but insufficient amplitude to cause the pointer to move.
