1984 GTV-6 power window cable

Post by alfaron »

After 23 years, I really, finally, have to replace the window cable on the driver's side. I have done them on Ferrari's, older Alfa's, and Masterati's, and don't look forward to it. If anyone has, and has measured, EXACTLY what the cable length is, it will save me some headaches and trial and error stuff. Will appreciate any tips as well. Thank you, Ron Johnston, alfaron@yahoo.com, member and AROSC member for 35 years.

I had to do this when I first bought my car 10 years ago. The cable on the drivers side had snapped. The solution I adopted was to get some cable of the correct gauge from a chandlers with the crimp on bullet ends and cut it to length when I had installed it. I am not sure how critical the length is, it will affect tension and drag, I can't remember if this can be adjusted.

My replacement still works fine after this time.

Good luck with yours.
