Hey,
I just thought I'd post this.
We bought a 1999 AR 166 24V sportronic not too long ago. We have driven it for about 4000km's when the tensioner seized and snapped the cambelt resulting in you know what.
According to the Alfa dealer, the cam belt was indeed changed at 60,000km's as per usual.
Bit of an odd occurance. Any thoughts/comments welcome.

I know, but it could be critical. I would definitely change all - extra insurance. It does add considerably to the cost of parts, but so do bent valves
Anyway, I can see someone saving on maintenance, not changing everything, or not checking properly for "tight feel".

The tensioner and bearings were not changed. That place is cheap.
Serves them right, now they have to pay for all the new parts, haha.
