Maybe the newer versions of the forum code support images for registration, i.e. you are given a set of numbers or letters to type in. Bots can't do that so no fakes.

Maybe Mike should just give a few of us Mod privileges so we can immediately kick out these spammers.

OH NO U DIDN'T !!

i know you have good intentions z, but suggesting the "modification" of this site is suggesting its death !!!

making "mods" out of people is a great way to kill a site, creating classes of people. My probelms with the suggestion:

1) This forum isn't that big to require bereaucratic control.
2) The so called spammers haven't done anything, indeed the usually sharp barry didn't even notice them and their presence let alone suggesting that this alone is auspicies for an insurmountable problem that requires remedy through the mediation of posts. (admittedly this is my weakest point, since it is common knowledge that barry isn't very sharp at all.)
3) The lack of "rules" and a list of "ban-able offenses" is what makes this forum awesome.
4) The segregation of members, especially "old school" members into mods and plebs is pretty retarded.

lastly, NOT NEEDED.

AT ALL.

down with the fascists !!

Joey,

This version is new and does support the image numbers.

Anyway, my suggestion is that the mod powers ONLY be limited to banning these type of posters, not other types of ban. No banning allowed based on, situations where the poster is at odds with the mods or "old hands" here.

I'm well aware of the problems with mods in general where you have to toe THEIR line which does indeed cause forums to become dull.

Well it's not too important amd this was only a suggestion, but I'm very annoyed by these type of users. I'm pretty sure they are real users, but real users who are spammers.

Hi
I wonder how they did that?
In this version of the code, a human-only readable code needs to be typed in for any new registrations - so I assume a human must have been involved to some degree, unless there is a flaw in the security I don’t know about.

Are you volunteering for the MOD role? :D

Cheers,
Michael
