Powerflow in Ranburg were excellent in making a factory looking exhaust for me. You know they are the right guys for your Alfa when there is a 3.7 GT on the ramp next to your car:)

If it was not so expensive to import an exhaust I would have done it . The guys did great job but the costs of transport and time starts to eat into the "budget" .
The signature tailpipe was done perfectly .

I needed shocks here in South Africa and the best aftermarket shocks available here rave the Gabriel's . In would say best for the the price. To import Biltsein or Koni to SA is nearly double the listed UK price ! I had the these Gabriel Gas shocks on my turbo GTV 2.0 and they were pretty good .
Looks around the engine bay to start the final check over I had to recon the washer bag which was surprising good . The internal strainer was blocked and a bit of algae inside . A deep clean proved more than enough over buying a new one and I preferred not everything just looking brand new unless I could refurb it. The whole scuttle has to come back out again to get the spray nozzle in and the pipe work to pass through the correct grommets through the bulkhead .
A brush of autosol on parts to bring up the shine for a while and remove deposits that have been sitting for the last few years was necessary . Nearly done .. on the home stretch now .

Things are nearly done . Clutch feels great, the recon gearbox is perfect and I got good oil pressure and no leaks out of anywhere
Next step is wheel alignment . The book is pretty good telling how to do it and it's sequence . Totally different to doing a GTV6 as you have three bars to adjust . Lucky enough I found a place down the road and they gave me full acces to their equipment.

Car is pretty good but I need some expert tuning from Roy Prando on the carbs and at the same time while the car is on the hoist we can do a spanner check on all suspension points.
Some pics at Roy's place while he sets the carbs and goes through the lower arms which I have not tightened up while car was on floor at my place. I am waiting for the clutch and brake shields to come back from powder Coaters and some more miles before I fit them . Must not forget . Now that this is all done the car is finished for now but need to do a lot more miles to shake it down properly . This I will leave to my family in SA while I return to the UK. My GTV 6 has now arrived in the UK .
Now I can start posting pics of my GTV6 restoration under a new thread which is coming on nicely .
Pity it was raining and gloomy but I put both my fathers cars out together now that they are both running.

Another year gone by since I have worked on my late fathers 1600 Junior. I have now just arrived in SA to do the final touches and complete the jobs i never got around to do in my last visit to South Africa. Having said that their was one thing I was not happy with before I left and that was the carbs even though Roy did his best with what I presented him The carbs really needed a proper rebuild not juts a clean out like I did . So taking it one step further I booked the car in at Roy Prando during the year while I was relaxing ( working ) in the UK and asked Roy to do full carb rebuild along with a full cylinder head build at same time. The compression of the engine was so good and mileage is so low it was not necessary to do anything else.
Now I’m back in SA escaping the 0 degrees UK winter for two weeks to complete all the small jobs and same time change the ABS ecu on my Moms 916 series Spider 3.0 24v .
Firstly big thanks to Roy for a great job ! Those carbs are superb and engine is so smooth ! Some pics below of my fully reconditioned heads.
Now I will continue with the easy bits To take it to the near perfect level !

These cars never came with side mirrors so this is must for me in traffic .... especially SA traffic .. the taxis come from all directions.
Once holes were drilled they got touched up with paint then the usual copper grease on stainless steel cap head bolts with nuts. This means door panel off obviously. Some people actually fix the these with screws

A few small other bits fitted and including the full carpet set for the boot . I have left these wallet draining items until last as I wanted the car mechanically spot on .
The rear number plate lights were perished and discoloured ( MOT failure) if I had to bring car to UK.
New fuel tank rubber catchment neck . Needed some serious lubing
Along with new boot rubber and this should make the rear end complete

This little car has turned out really well and drives beautifully. Unfortunately I can’t keep it in SA as I have no storage facilities and my Mom finds it little to heavy to steer but then again she’s nearly 80 and used to power steering of the Spider, so it has been sold to a really good collection . I’m sure I will visit it/he/she when I come to see my family on my annual trip . Here are some final pics of it this week .
