Fletch, try IAP http://www.international-auto.com

They have the engine mounts on stock and it's about $120 for the pair

Update

Post by David »

AC compressor mount was moved back about 10mm and now all lines up perfectly. I'm not sure if I'll get enough "wrap" around the crank pulley but if this is a problem, I'll run a longer belt and change the adjustment pulley.

I made a small cover over the top of the timing belt mainly to run wires across the engine and keep the fuel supply line, etc clear of the belt.

The air intake will be using a modified air filter box as I have found with my last conversion using the K&N filter, the air intake temp remains fairly high when drawing air primarily from the engine compartment. It was easier to modify the original filter box than try and shield the filter. The inlet pipe on the box has been shaped to match the air intake hole next to the radiator.

I guess it's an aluminium tube, right? What's the inner diameter? And the angle?

Jose,

The tube is 75mm mild steel exhaust pipe, Again a standard 45 degree bend from the truck spares shop. After welding, etc I dip the tube in acid to clean it up using standard swimming pool hydrochloric acid. It also removes the aluminium coating to make painting easier.

Engine installed

Post by David »

Finally back on track with the 3.0L conversion. Engine is in the car. The project slowed a bit while waiting for the coil drivers and other bits for the Megasquirt box.

Still some wiring to complete for the coil pack and VR sensor. The O2 sensors and the Air Temp Sensor were wired up to and old AFM socket and mounted in a relay box. This allows connection to the Megasquirt box through the L-jet AFM plug without altering the original wiring harness.

I think the black wrinkle turned out well. That stuff is very tough once it dries completely and rough enough to take the skin off your knuckles when the spanner slips.

The real fun will begin when the tuning starts.

David, I speak for myself, but I think we're all dying with anticipation to hear that sixer run after all that hard work; any progress? Regards, Taso

Looking great David!

Must say, it's good to see it in the car instead of on the bench when I last saw it. Quite like the wrinkle paint too, especially the way you've polished up the AR script! Ideas, ideas! :D

Side note - what's the name of the truck store you've been using? I took your advice and have been using Qld Diesel Spares at Oxley, and they have just about everything I've needed, except some tubing. Mates rates helps as well when a friend is a Sales Manager!

R~R,

Qld Diesel Spares at Burpengary has had nearly all the bits and silicone hoses I needed. I had to go to ENZED for the heater hose reducing bush and tail.

Did you track down the 15" rims you were looking for?

Well there you go, Qld Diesel Spares wins on both accounts!

I actually located a set of 17" wheels off a 147 for a decent price on Ebay shortly after I got those items off you, and waited another few months while I tracked down some second hand tyres to go on them. After finally getting tyres, having the centrebores enlarged and getting the right wheel nuts I fitted them on. And it looked great. For five days. When they were consequently stolen off the car at night, and subsequently went back to the old set of 15s.

So I guess long story short, no, I haven't.
