Flat plane cranks for the Montreal V8 are available:

No cams available apparently, but I would guess they are easier to make than a crank.

Or maybe you can use the stock ones by rotating them 90* crank? Guess that would be a strange way to make a 90* crank though... 8)

For a flat cranked montreal, surely you'd just used 4cyl cams?

Is there an obvious reason for them to fit? Didn't know the Montreal had two timing chains?

My understanding is that the cam sprockets are used to allow for the rod width change in alignment and that the cams themselves are not bank dependent - and they already use so much of the nord architecture that there's a pretty damn good chance the 4cyl cams would drop in.

ok, I see wahat you mean. But surely the firing order for the 90* crank is not working with the 4-cyl cams? The 180* I can understand but the 90*?

I thought we were talking about a flat crank?

Mee too. But somewhere along the line the references fell away and in the last post it sounded like you meant that one could use the nord cams in a "normal" Montreal. I just wanted to clarify.

Is this engine running yet?

Or did you buy a Montreal unit?

You can look at a FB page

There is a video of a Monty with a Tipo 33 crank.
