Exhaust for 1.8TB

Post by Oversteer »

Hi there!

I'll have to make a new exhaust for my 75 TB, and I need some suggestions. I'm thinking about making a free pipe all the way, with no silencers at all. noise is not a problem, as the turbo engine sounds very quiet even with a VERY free flow exhaust...
For now the engine is in std form, but in a near future it will get a squadra chip...

Regards
Alexandre

I have a 3" system all the way fron the turbo. Two silencers, nice and meaty at idle but a slight booming at 90Km/h. Straight 3" pipe? You will regret it, it will be VERY loud.
A friend had a 2.5" system with a smallish silencer at the rear and it was louder then mine.

Well, this car is not a daily drive, so noise is not a primary issue, but thanks for the tip! :)

Yesterday I've dumped the middle silencer, leaving just the back box, and the car still sounds noiseless!!
With a exhaust cam with 8mm lift, I shouldn't be surprised after all!!

Performance wise, nothing to report! Maybe some lack of trottle response till 3000rpm, but maybe it's just my imagination...

Oh, the exhaust is an aftermarket Walker system!

Get a pipe like this:

and this one:

We use this combination on our Turbos and it sounds really good! Especially the "bangs" and the crackling sounds great when you downshift!!!!

Don't try to use no silencer! It's tooo loud if the engine is under load!!!
We've tried that a lot but regret it everytime! It's really quiet at idle that's true but if you set load on the engine, accelerating from first into second etc. it could be dangerous for the ears of you and the others outside the car!

Those are SS items, right?

My car has a side exhaust exit, just like the V6, so those back boxes would not fit, I think...

It's been a while since I've handle exhaust issues, but finally I made up my mind.

I got a custom made stainless steel exhaust! It has a 70mm (aprox. 2,75 inches) diameter pipe, straight from the turbo, with no silencer at all! The "no silencer situation" is temporary as I'm planning to dump the America bumpers in favour of the Veloce kit, and therefore I'm moving the back exit from right side to the middle of the bumper. After the swap, I'll fit a back box.

The car feels a lot more responsive, and the boost comes in much more easily (I have the Squadra chip, now).

At the sound department though, as Mats said before, it is VERY loud!! Very far from road legal, for sure! But still, it´s a blast!

The restoration of the EVO goes very slowly. In this moment I have all the parts except the front and rear seats. The originals are very tired, and I don’t meet the cloth to repair them. I´m looking for Alfa 75 Turbo (serie I, not Turbo America) seats, because the front seats are the same, and the rear has only a little difference with the EVO, but at this moment it was impossible. Somebody can help me?

I´ll go to Boavista this year with my 75 Turbo America, but I expect can go with my EVO perfectly restored in the next edition (2009) .

Greetings.

The original Turbo/Evo interior fabric has a halflife of about 20 minutes in direct sunlight, absolutely useless and very difficult to find. :?
I can understand if you want it for an Evo restoration though.

Yes, I'm trying to restore the EVO absolutely in original condition, but I think in black leather for the seats, because the cloth is not for repair.

So, or other seats, or new cloth, or all in black leather. I think it is the only solution.
