Does anyone know the difference between regular Mobil 1 15-50 and

Mobil 1 High Mileage 10-40 (http://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/Motor ... 0W-40.aspx)

and

Mobil 1 Extended Performance 15-50 (http://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/Motor ... 5W-50.aspx)

Of the three, which is preferable for use in a GTV6 with 75k miles on it?

for alfa engine best oil is with lot ot P Zn (ZDDP very good anti wear agent)
flat tappets and cams love it 8) so u can compare shitty high mile(low antiwear and mineral sux) to EP API SL

I'm sorry, but I simply don't understand the reply. What are the differences among the 3 grades of Mobil 1, and which is preferable for use in a GTV6?

Thanks,

Richard

Mobil 1 V Twin 20w50 1329 1949 204 SG SYN

hmm that looks like it has lots :)

I like to run 0-40 but I think I might start tossing in a qt of Twin 20w50 for the cams

I have two 1986 GTV6s that are running very well. I want them to continue to do so. I became very concerned about what kind of oil I am using once I learned that the EPA has required oil companies to remove ZDDP from their oils because of the mandated 100,000 mile catalytic converter requirement. Based on research I have done and an extensive dialogue on the subject on the Alfa Bulletin Board, I concluded the better choice for oil as compared to Mobile 1 is Valvoline VR-1 Racing Oil Synthetic in the black container. It is high in ZDDP which our flat tappet engines need to avoid wear. It does not require an additive such as ZDDPlus as does Mobile 1. Or so it seems. I am still doing research and can keep you posted.

I always avoid Mobil 1 to avoid problems. Nothing but bad experience with Mobil 1 whatever the engine.

When I had M1 15w50 in my V6 it just DRANK OIL like a drunkard.

I switched to Castro Syntec 5W50 and it was much better.

But unfortunately it's SM rated now, so the zddp content went down. So I switched to Amsoil 20w50 Z-ROD.
