Replacement of rear engine mount

Post by Simon N »

Hi,

I had some propshaft problems on a recent track day and whilst overhauling the prop, I've decided to replace the rear engine mounting as it was shot.
I've tried to remove the complete bellhousing and there is insufficient clearance between the engine and the bulkhead for it to be removed.

I can't move the engine forwards as the flywheel is very close the the crossmember holding the steering rack.

Any Ideas where I can go next without removing the engine completely?

I've removed the middle bar and hope to use G clamps and some sockets/ spacers to get the old one out, but what about betting the new one in?

It's on a 1984 GTV6 fitted with a 3.0 from a 75.

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer,

Happy New Year,

Simon
