Post by Evert »

viewtopic.php?f=23&t=4401

After an introduction of myself now an introduction of the enige I want to install into my 75 model.

The engine is:
- 3.0 V6 bi-turbo motor, 164 12V modified to transaxle
- Two turbos Garrett T25's
- 2 Intercoolers
- 1 very fat new race radiator, cools to 400 Pk
- Turbo spruitstukken
- Aeroquip and SAMCO connections/flanges
- Water injection, Aquamist

Modification:
- Flowed heads
- Two Colombo low pressure camshafts
- Standard Compression (maybee later modified to 8,6)
- Special valves siliciumbronze coating
- Crankshaft weighted, balanced, polished
- (Later low compression pistons)

There is no clear wiring and engine management.
Later, I 'll try to put some pictures on the web.

Very nice. Can't wait to see this puppy going!

On another note, are you planning on using the two coolers or just happen to have two?

Strangest thing happend.
When I was busy making picturers and labeling the inventory, the intercoolers seamed missing.
If I can retrieve them they are buid in because all the part are almost bold on.
Else I'll use one intercooler.

that is the stuff from Jeroen Boer his 75, the cmos-engineering car from Holland. :D Great stuff, very good quality work. much research gone into that...

I had read on the dutch alfaforum that the engine sold not to long ago but nobody new where it went and if it would be used...

Evert, where are you located? would love to come by for a cup of coffee... 8)

What kind of enginemanagemnet are you going to use? what kind of gearbox are you planning on using?

Greetings Remco

Hello guys,

The engine is indeed Jeroen Boers Cmos engine. I just stumbled over it in a garage when I was looking for a standard 3.0 V6 12 V.
At first I wanted to sell all the turbo equipement and keep the (new) engine. But later I realized this could be a once in a time opportunity.

But I want to take my time without placing too much attention on this project. On this forum with so many turbo buildups, I am hoping to get some help and tips in a relaxed environment.

First thing for me is to make sure all the equipment is complete.
Then build the engine in and make it run with a 3D Emerald ECU.

I would be very happy if we could start getting the engine deliver 250-275 hp.
Then with more knowledge of the engine slowy build up pressure towards maybee 325-350 hp, my maximum goal.

But I understood the engine is designed for an output of around 450 hp!!
By this time the gearbox and axle also should bee replaced by a model of Bayerische Motoren Werke. The exhaust will exit on the standard position, so no sidepipes.

The CR at this moment is the standard 1:9,5. Our starting inlet overpressure will be 0,3 bar, 4,5 psi.
I already read in some postings that it's possible to run the engine with a CR of 1:9,5 with an overpressure of 15-20 psi. (around 1 bar)
In this area I would really appreciate some help.
- Is it possible to build in gallery cooling (if it isn't installed already)?
- How much pressure is possible with an air to air intercooler.
- It it wise to use a thicker metal engine gasket to lower the compression a little.

I am open for every advice and tips are more than welcome!
Thanks in advance. Cheers, Evert

I don't know about 15-20 psi with 9.5:1 pistons. I suppose if your intercooler was really good and you injected a lot of water or water/methanol if might be ok. I would be too scared to try it. Barry would have a better idea about those limits than I would, especially with turbos.

For what it's worth I did run my stock 9:1 2.5 with 10psi supercharged, no intercooler, and a water/methanol to fuel ratio of .6:1. I never had any detonation.

I don't suggest fitting thicker headgaskets. They change the "squish area" and everything I know says that's a sacred thing you don't want to mess with. You could end up increasing the tendency to detonate.

Your power goals seem reasonable to me, I think a target of 350 flywheel horsepower could be attained with 10-12 psi. Again, Barry would know...

A little offtopic - When we say Jeroen Boer's CMOS engine, was this the one documented on a website a few years ago? Or am I thinking of someone different? I haven't read the page/site (of whoever it belonged to) in years.

Definitely keep us updated with it all, we love our pictures...and video!

that's the one... metallic gray 75 TS converted to 3.0TT. later on it had a full IMSA rollcage fitted. website is offline quite a while now.

@Evert, dan zal ik er op het gewone alfaforum niks over zeggen... heb zelf ook zo'n geheim project... 8)

Latest news, I found the two intercoolers.
We are planning to start with the installation of the engine in April.
STill I would like to do some calculations myself.

For that I need something like this:

Does anyone know how or where to get this characteristic for the T25?
It would be of great help.
