Does anyone know the size of the thread for the oil pressure sender port for the gauge (that is the bulky sender screwed straight down at the back). I thought it was 10 mm with pitch 1.0, but the fitting I have (of that size) does not seem to fit It is actually on a 164 3.0 12v in my Milano/75 race car, but I believe it remained the same throughout.

Thread size of oil pressure sender port (for gauge)?

if an M10x1 can be screwed in about two turns it's probably a 1/8" NPT. They look VERY similar. Or maybe 3/8" UNF but thats not so likely because it's not tapered.

I can't remember which of the senders had 2 type of thread pitch. Was it the oil pressure warning light on the head or the oil pressure gauge on the block?
Now that I recall, I think it could be the case as Mats pointed out. If the thread was totally different then I'm sure you wouldn't even attempt to thread it in.
Maybe it was the pressure warning light that had 2 types....

Yes, the port for the warning light sender came in two threads, but the pitch is obviously different in that cases.
I'll try 1/8 pipe, but the thread on a stock sender does not look tapered at all (and the stock sender uses a crush-washer). Anyway, will try 1/8 - thanks! Given the crush washer, perhaps it is 3/8 UNF then...???

If at first you don't succeed...
I must say I have only seen M10x1 senders on Alfas but on the other hand there are grease monkeys everywhere switching stuff around.

Yeah, yeah, ...
The stock Alfa sender spins in freely, so the thread should be "original". For good measure I'm also going to chase the threads on my 10x1.0 fitting with a 10x1.0 from my tap-and-die set to see if that helps - perhaps it is a bit off - after all it is an American metric fitting, so who knows though, possibly made in China

It is 10x1 mm. A 10x1 mm bolt spins into the port freely, and a 10x1 mm nut spins freely onto the stock sender. I traced my (questionable) fitting with a die and it now also spins in freely Even the other end of the fitting was a poor fit - AN3 But it all went together

Oil Pressure Sender Unit removal
I have bought a new oil pressure sender unit for my 3.0 GTV6 from e b spares in the uk. I am having some difficulty getting the old one out cant turn by hand so looks as if I am going to need a right ankle open ended spanner is this the usual sort of tool or is there a better way to remove these?
